Arab strike May 22, 2017

In eastern Jerusalem, which is ostensibly part of the State of Israel, decisions are often made by the Palestinian Authority – good to remember, so close to the Jerusalem reunification celebrations. On Monday, for instance, eastern Jerusalem Arab schools were closed down, so the children could go out and join the rallies in support of the hunger striking terrorist prisoners. The ones who don’t scarf down Zionist candy in their cell’s bathroom stall.

Adel Jazawi, member of an Arab parents council in eastern Jerusalem, posted on her Facebook page: “We are part of the people and are taking part in the activity [in solidarity with the hunger strikers]. The schools are open and the teachers are there, but there are no students and if any arrive, they are sent home.”

The PA seriously cranked up the volume on the hunger-strike solidarity demonstrations, in honor of the visiting President Trump. Of course, those strikes were not exactly a success story even without that Marwan Barghouti “Tortit” fiasco. Out of about 6,000 security prisoners waiting in Israeli prisons for the next prisoners’ swap, only 1,300 agreed to strike – the pro-PLO terrorists. Hamas prisoners continued to enjoy their nourishing meals.

Which is why the PA forced the shutting down of own local government offices in eastern Jerusalem, and why Israeli Arab politicians also went on strike on Monday. At least they skipped lunch.

The media committee for the Freedom and Dignity hunger strike said in a statement that it was “the first time since the First Palestinian Intifada (1987-1993) that a general strike was observed in occupied West Bank, the Palestinian territory occupied in 1948 (present-day Israel), and in the diaspora.”

So, basically, they’ve accepted the reality of a Jewish State in their midst and are welcoming the opportunity to negotiate peace through mutual sacrifices on both parts…

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat posted on his Facebook page a declaration on Sunday, insisting that all city schools were going to operate as usual Monday, even though Trump was in town. So eastern Jerusalem schools actually opened Monday morning, but remained largely empty. No kids.
