Palestinian Authority envoy to Washington DC, Husam Zumlot, in Gaza, 2017.

Palestinian Authority envoy Husam Zomlot, his wife and their two children have had their visas to the United States revoked. The action came several days after the closure of the Palestine Liberation Organization office in Washington DC.

The office was closed in accordance with a Congressional mandate that requires the Palestinian Authority to actively engage in peace negotiations with Israel as a condition for its presence in the country.

Zumlot left the United States in May after he was recalled to Ramallah from Washington DC by Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas to protest the U.S. decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem.

His two children, ages 7 and 5, were withdrawn from school in Washington last week. They have left the country with their mother, according to PLO executive committee member Hanan Ashrawi, who was quoted by The Jerusalem Post.

The action came after Abbas ordered his officials to cut all contact with the Trump Administration after President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in December 2017.

Palestine Liberation Organization officials, also headed by Abbas, have all rejected an American peace plan that has not even been released, and whose elements have not yet been revealed.
