COUNTDOWN TO 2016

F-35, Due for Israel in 2016, in First Vertical Landing (Video)

Israeli Air Force pilots won’t be flying the controversial and costly F35 Stealth Lightning fighter plane before 2016, but everyone now has a glimpse of how the advanced jet makes a vertical landing.

The F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter plane, which Israel hopes to be flying in 2016, went through its first operational training mission several days ago at the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Two weeks after carrying out its first vertical landing, a feature that is not included in the F35 that Israel is buying.

Israel has ordered several F-35 planes, which have range of 600 miles and are designed to penetrate foreign air defenses and bolster military superiority, especially over enemies farther away from the country, such as Iran.

Skyrocketing costs and questions of safety have beleaguered the F-35 program.

Below is a video of the vertical landing.

United States Marketing Corps and their Joint Strike Failure. Hint: No operational mission systems…for years.

  2. Ahron Ebert says:

The most important part of the story is missing. How does it vertical land? Does it have jets underneath, do the forward jets turn downward?

  3. The rear turbine actually tucks underneath and other thrust nozzles under neath open to compensate and provide lift…. At least from everything I've seen…

  4. Wrong plane….Israel is not buying the vertical takeoff version. It is for the marine corps.
