French Police have denied reports that the Police have arrested the perpetrator of the shooting attack on a Jewish school in Toulouse that left four Jews dead. Instead, hundreds of Police have surrounded the building as they prepare to storm the complex in which he lives.

Mohammed Merah, a 24 year-old French Muslim who has links to Al Qaeda, has been holed up in his apartment 3km from the murder scene since the early hours of the morning, when Police began their raid of the building. All of the other residents in the besieged apartment complex have been securely evacuated.

Merah was revealed to have links to Al Qaeda and had been previously arrested in Afghanistan for bomb-making, only to be freed by the Taliban in a mass jailbreak in the summer of 2008.
