Israel Adopts Sundays-Off

Lipman-100512

The first vote on new legislation in the 19th Knesset was initiated as a joint effort between Yesh Atid’s Rabbi Dov Lipman, Jewish Home’s Naftali Bennett, and surprisingly, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Easily passing the vote, the Knesset decided that Sundays would now be an official day off from work.

MK Rabbi Lipman said, “I missed having a day off like in America, so I’m proud to have introduced this legislation. Now I’ll be able to go to baseball games like I used to.”

Lipman was surprised to learn that MKs don’t actually work on Thursdays, Fridays and of course, Shabbat, thus with Sundays off, his work week dropped down to a mere three days. Also, he discovered that baseball isn’t as popular in Israel as it is in America, so he won’t be going to as many Sunday games as he planned.

In order to make up for the lost Sunday hours, two additional hours of work have been added on to the regular Monday through Thursday workday schedule, which means Israelis will now be at work for at least 10 hours a day, 4 days a week, plus at least half a day on Friday.

Economists, looking a little deeper into the effects of the legislation are now concerned that the law of diminishing returns was overlooked, and that the average Israeli who is not a programmer, will be unable to maintain his or her efforts, concentration and productivity for the 10 hours needed, and that actual productivity time will still continue to hover at the 6 hour mark each day.

Furthermore, the new 10 hour day will now also require the addition of a dinner break, extending the actual work day to 11 hours, and psychologists expect that it may also place a psychological toll on other family members.

In homes where both spouses work, those households are expected to incur addtional overhead with the need to hire babysitters or place their children in eveningcare centers. Furthermore, studies have shown that children who are raised by strangers, might end up like Kibbutz children who were forcibly raised away from their parents during the early years of the State.

Until this legislation passed, working on Sundays had been giving Israelis a competitive edge over other global economies, by giving Israelis a day’s head start in the work week.

The loss of the head start, the non-increase in daily productivity, and the deterioration of the family unit are expected to negatively impact the economy and the country.

But, as proponants of the Sunday-Off plan repeatedly told us, it will make us just like all other nations.

Presumably they were referring to Greece.

A Freilichen Purim.

  5. No day-off on Sunday. Also for a rabbi.
Sunday is the first working day of the seven days week. Six days are for work, including the Friday morning. The Friday afternoon is the preparation of the Sabbath. Even the Juma'ah is the preparation of the Sabbath for the Muslims. The Qur'an states in 2:66 that he who is not keeping the Sabbath is a despicable primate. Only the last day of the week, the Sabbath is a day-off for rest, and that is valid for the whole Creation.
The MK's should give the example of this.

Complete nonsense. By that measure, Muslim countries should be way ahead of Israel and the West because their workweek starts on Saturday! Where does the JP come up with these writers?

there's a conflict coming between muslim and christian religion, coz of these talkings about sundays. Maybe soon there will be sunday law.

You can thank the Roman Catholic Church for this. Sunday Laws have already arrived at an international level! Croatia is completely 'shut down' on a Sunday because it is the Roman Catholic Church's 'holy day'. Ultimately, the war will be between those who 'bow down' to the 'Sunday law' made by man, or those who bow down to the Sabbath Commandment, written by God Himself in stone.

And that war, is coming REAL SOON!!!

  10. Carolyn Rice says:

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For pin six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

The Seventh-Day Adventist Church has been prophesying for years that there will be Sunday Laws and the time has come. Read Genesis 2. God set aside the Sabbath Day (7th day of the week) and hallowed so we may celebrate the creation of this universe. Jesus Christ is our Creator and Redeemer.

You will have to decide whether to obey man's law (Sunday) or God's Law (Sabbath – Saturday).

Get ready for the time of Jacob's Trouble. There will be no secret rapture. Do not listen to main stream preachers and priests. God Bless you and keep you.

I love the last line – and please don't be PC, I'm Greek. BTW if you read the Torah, every time Israel forgot the Sabbath they ended up in trouble. There is only one Sabbath – Sunday is the pagan day of rest adopted by some Christians.

  14. Superstew33 says:

What makes you believe there is a coming Sunday law?

  15. Sunday is the pagan day of rest, put into effect by Constantine, a Catholic. There will be a Sunday law in all the world, there is no stopping that. He who is faithful to tha Sabbath or Shabbat will be persecuted by the Catholic church. It happened once and it will happen again.

  16. Ada,God bless you.

  17. This legislation passed in Knesset because the Government accept in secret"Pagan day" by the Catholic church. There's a conflict coming between the catholic church and the Seven day Adventist church. It happened once and will happen again. You will have to decide whether to obey mans"s law Sunday or God's law Sabbath.

  18. Lee Hutchins says:

I WONDER IF THERE IS SOME KIND OF FAVOR ISRAEL HAS BEEN PROMISED BY THE POPE IF THEY TAKE SUNDAY OFF. THEY ARE CLOSE TO MAKING A SUNDAY OFF IN EUROPE AS A DAY FOR THE FAMILY TO GET TOGETHER (THEY SAY.)

  19. Does this all lead to the Vatican?

  20. Antonio Ruiz says:

Carolyn I couldn't of said it better myself , We should remember 3 things Know What you believe, Know why you believe it and Know where its found in the bible, The Bible is so clear about the mark of the Beast, that many are caught up in traditions of man instead of following Gods words. God Bless you and your family.
