Two people and a horse were killed on Friday in three different traffic accidents in Israel, bringing the total number of people killed this year in vehicular accidents in Israel to 283.

The number is 36 percent lower than the corresponding period in 2011.

On Friday, a 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident south of Tel Aviv. Another person was seriously injured in that fatal accident and another one suffered minor injuries, Israel Radio reported.

In a different accident in the West Bank, a 30-year-old man was killed and another two sustained minor to moderate injuries.

In the northern Negev, a prize-winning horse was killed and seven people were wounded when a truck collided into a passenger bus. Six of the bus passengers and the bus driver sustained minor injuries. The horse, which was being transported back from a competition, was killed on impact. The report in Israel Radio said the horse had just won a competition.

This week alone, Magen David Adom – the Israeli ambulance service – treated 840 people injured in car accidents. Of them, 10 suffered serious injuries and 23 had moderate injuries, Israel Radio reported.
