Dead Bodies in Tel Aviv

feigln bodies

Moshe Feiglin (Manhigut Yehudit) and MK Michael Ben-Ari (Ichud Leumi) led a protest this evening against the Bodies: The Exhibition display in Tel Aviv.

It is generally believed that the cadavers used in the display were prisoners murdered by the Chinese government, including political dissidents.

The exhibition of the plastinated dead bodies, and this  exhibition in particular,  raises serious ethical questions. Even France has completely banned the exhibition.

  1. Chaiya Eitan says:

The only place these bodies should be is in the ground….buried…with respect to the deceased.

  2. John Cerny says:

There are also bodies of the children and teenagers.

  3. There is no justification for such an exhibition. All attempts to justify it on artistic grounds completely ignore the humanity of the people who are being convereted into objects of fascination. It is simply pandering to ghoulishness. If the argument is education and science then the philosophy takes no account of the human cost. That scientific enquiery is justification for any and all 'usage' of a human being is disturbingly like the thinking behind the 'scientific' experiments carried out in the concentration camps. The world grows dark.

  4. Jerry Blaz says:

Actually, the ignorance in back of this protest is not positive but primitive. These are not actual bodies buit created from bodies that have been donated to science where the plasticization process REPLACES the body. There is no organic material in the exhibits. Certainly this process creates a direct visual replica of a human body or, in many exhibits, particular systems in the body. I believe the educational value of someone viewing the vascular system which, in life, would be the system carrying nutrition, oxygen, etc., through the entire body.

There are several exhibits of these plasticized "bodies" being displayed in museums around the world. In the exhibit I vewed, there was an exhibit of a cross-section of an obese man who had died, had his body donated to science, which was then plasticized. One could see the layers of fat as they would have appeared in the actual body, and what struck me was a plasticized version of a pacemaker that had been surgically embedded in his chest while the donor had been alive. It became quite evident to me that the pacemaker may have extended his days, but it didn't prevent his death.
