IAF Major G., first flight squadron commander, Nevatim air base

The first-ever female Squadron Commander has been appointed to lead the 122 Nahshon Squadron of the Israel Air Force at Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel.

Israel Air Force Commander Major-General Amikam Norkin appointed Major. G. to become the first female flight squadron commander in the IAF on Tuesday at Nevatim, where she previously served as Deputy Commander.

With the new appointment, Major G. will be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

“It’s a great privilege that comes with immense responsibility,” Major G. said upon her appointment. “The real work is still ahead of me. I am proud to serve in the IAF.”
