Students of tractate Bava Kama would probably pay special attention to this item, reported by the Israeli website Mynet.com.

Yael Cohen, 18.5, a resident of the communal cooperative village Had Ness in the Golan Heights, who is in the midst of her year of National Service, was rushed to Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot suffering from external injuries in her stomach and legs. Cohen had been gored and thrown across a fence by a vigorous, young Bull.

Cohen was wearing a red shirt at the time of the incident, but she says there was no connection between her choice of an attire and the bull’s aggressive behavior. “It’s just a myth that the color red excites them,” she explained

“As part of my routine work I wanted to order things around so we could go and clean the barn of the young adult, male calves, each one of which weighs as much 200 kg.

“Then one of a large group of young bulls would not budge.

“So he came over to me and just started to butt me against the fence without stopping,” she related, adding, “Usually they are afraid of humans and wouldn’t dare, but this one came up and began to ram my abdomen and my legs.”

“While he butted me with his head tried to release myself,” she continued. “I started to scream and tried to see if anyone could hear me, because it’s a big place and there was much noise from the tractors. I wasn’t sure I could escape, because he did not stop. I was really scared, I was absolutely hysterical, but somehow I managed to hit him and when he was pushed back I quickly jumped over the fence. Someone saw me and gave me first aid until I was rushed to the hospital.”

Cohen explained that young bulls don’t have their horns yet, which is why the blows she received did not break the skin. “I believe it was a game for him. They think they are young, and he certainly did not mean this as an attack.”

As to whether she’s going back to work with the bulls, she replied: “Meanwhile, I’m not going back to the barn. My mother will not hear about it, and I’m also a little scared.”
