IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot has instructed the IDF to refer to the 50 years since the liberation of Jerusalem using only the term “unified” in relation to Jerusalem, and not “liberated” or “occupied”, according to a Makor Rishon report.

Eizenkot believes this will allow the IDF to sidestep any politically charged terms during all the upcoming IDF’s Jubilee ceremonies, as we begin celebrating the liberation of eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria from the illegal Jordanian occupation that began in 1948.
