One unique event in Israel is the reaction of people to the first rains. There is almost a festive atmosphere when the first drops fall after a long and dry summer, and people can say, ”Thank God for rain."

The sign, posted in Jerusalem's Haredi neighborhoods this week, reads: "Yeshiva boys are kidnapped to military prison." Of course it's one guy, who ignored the law, while all the others around him showed up with their draft notices and got deferments.
