Obama Faith Adviser Under Fire For Tweet On ‘Resistance To Israel’

Dalia Mogahed, a member of President Barack Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is under fire for her remarks on Twitter about Israel. Now she is attempting to deflect controversy after she wrote on Twitter about her opposition to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in which she pointed out the embattled ruler can no longer “deliver…resistance to Israel.”

Her full Tweet read: “To those siding w/ Assad: he cannot deliver stability, protection of minorities, or resistance to Israel. He is a killer w/o legitimacy.”

After bloggers noticed, Mogahed tweeted, “I am criticizing (people) who support Assad because they think he resists Israel.”

However, her tweet in question can be easily interpreted to mean she is decrying Assad’s inability to “resist” Israel. “Resistance” is a term routinely used by Islamic extremists to mean terrorism targeting civilians.

Besides her role on the White House Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Mogahed is also on the advisory council of the Department of Homeland Security. She testified before the Senate on engagement with the Muslim community.

Mogahed has a larger controversial Islamic history. She was a partner in an Islamic project whose stated goal was to “define, interpret and implement the concept of the Islamic State in modern times.”

The project was founded and directed by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the controversial Muslim cleric behind the 13-story, $100 million Islamic cultural center and mosque being built two blocks from Ground Zero in New York City.

Together with Rauf, Mogahed was a leading voice in the Leadership Group on U.S.-Muslim Engagement, which issued a 153-page recommendation paper that calls for dialogue with Hamas.

Mogahed is a senior analyst and executive director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies, where she led what has been described as an unprecedented survey of Muslims worldwide, including in the U.S. and Europe.

Mogahed and the Gallup survey provided key data for Rauf’s “Shariah Index Project,” which sought, according to its own mission, to “define, interpret and implement the concept of the Islamic State in modern times.”

Iran Bribing Hamas Officials To Do Its Bidding

An internal Hamas investigation has found that Iran is paying off Hamas members to form independent militias to do Tehran’s bidding against Israel, sources in Hamas told this column.

At least seven high Hamas military officers have been bribed by Iran to work with Islamic Jihad and other Gazan groups to fire rockets at Israel during any confrontation between the Jewish state and Iran.

Hamas discovered this information while probing whether Iran is planning a coup d’état against it.

Last week, KleinOnline reported that Iran has been pressing jihadist groups in Gaza to continue firing rockets into Israel, according to Egyptian security officials. Egyptian intelligence officials have been mediating between Israel and Hamas in an attempt to restore calm on the Israel-Gaza border. Egyptian officials involved in the talks say Hamas has been trying to halt the rocket-fire coming from Iranian-sponsored Gazan groups, including Islamic Jihad.

The Egyptian officials also say Hamas has asked them to press Islamic Jihad to agree to a cease-fire. The sources complain that Iran has been pressuring Islamic Jihad to escalate the rocket attacks.
