The agenda for the January 10 meeting of the Sub-Committee on Settlement in the Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria Area, Central Planning Office, to take place in Beit El, includes deliberations of the approval—at a variety of phases, from preliminary to final—of at least 1,329 housing units in Israeli settlements, 883 of which are outside the settlement blocks.
These units are in addition to the 430 housing units in Ariel, the marketing of which has been recently approved by Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman.
The agenda was released last week by Peace Now, which, obviously, condemned the various plans because they include building homes for Jews in an area that used to be occupied illegally by the Jordanian Legion, and was liberated by a Jewish army in 1967.
Peace Now declared that “the government continues to act irresponsibly and continues to promote construction in settlements that Israel will be forced to evacuate as part of a future agreement.”
Perhaps, although the same Peace Now condemnation observes that “it seems that since the Trump government took office, the government has given up all restraint and is doing everything possible to destroy the chances of a two-state solution.”
We don’t know for sure, but if Peace Now says so, it could be true, so like, Hallelujah?
