Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev announced on Wednesday that “immediately following Independence Day, we’ll make sure to build 500 housing units in Har Bracha, and receive permits for the construction of industrial zones in Samaria.

The severe cuts in building in the region are not only a blow to the building of the country, but also directly harm the possibility of improving employment for Israelis in the area, as well as for the Arabs, which creates a major economic blow, noted Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council.

“Needless to say, this is the only region that allows true coexistence in the Middle East,” he pointed out. “We expect that after Pesach, the construction of hundreds of housing units in Har Bracha will be approved as a response to the murder of Itamar Ben Gal. The settlement won’t be able to accept the situation that after such a severe terrorist attack, there won’t be a fitting Zionist response,” he added.

“Settlement in Judea and Samaria is an inseparable part of the building of the entire country. We have returned to Samaria; we’ve returned home. That’s why we need to build and restore Jewish life to these areas and make sure permits are given to the industrial zones, because living also involves employment and livelihood.

“Immediately after Independence Day we’ll start two things.

“The first is the construction of 500 housing units in Har Bracha, a new neighborhood in memory of Itamar Ben Gal, z’l, and the second is the receipt of permits for the industrial zones,” Regev said.
