Residents of the former – demolished – Samaria Jewish community of Amona can finally breathe easy.

Israel’s Supreme Court decided in a final ruling on Wednesday that development and construction in their new community, Amichai (“My People lives”) will be permitted to continue.

The verdict was handed down for all outstanding cases that were brought against the new settlement by the far-left Peace Now and other related organizations.

Stop-work orders on construction and development had been issued almost immediately upon the arrival of the caravans to the windswept hilltop where the former Amona residents are establishing their new community.

On Wednesday, however, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the residents of Amona and declared that all stop orders are lifted and building is permitted.

“It’s a great day for us today,” said Elad Ziv, one of the residents of Amona who was present in the courtroom. “It’s a good thing for us and I hope now we are going to be on a good way.”
