As of Friday, May 5, laws submitted by Israeli government ministries must include a reference regarding their application to Israelis who live in Judea and Samaria, Israel radio reported.

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (Habayit Hayehudi), who chairs the Ministerial Committee on Legislation, and Tourism Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) who is a committee member, have informed the government Thursday of their decision to radically change the procedure for memoranda of government laws brought before the committee.

In their announcement, the two ministers wrote: “It is no longer acceptable for the government to deal only with the needs of citizens who live in some parts of the country while neglecting and even ignoring others.”

The protocol has previously required the senior IDF commander for Judea and Samaria to sign a military decree which applies a new Knesset law to the Israelis living in the liberated territories.
