A speeding truck ploughed into an elderly Jewish pedestrian and sent him flying, in the Jewish neighborhood of Stamford Hill, north London, and knocked him unconscious as he crossed the road, the Mail Online reported Monday morning. The truck then sped away.
The man, in his 60s, suffered head injuries. He received treatment from paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police reported that no arrests have been made so far, but an investigation has been launched.
A worker at Dominos’ Pizza in Stamford Hill told the Evening Standard that “the collision happened suddenly and it was so bad that the man’s head bashed against the road… The man in the truck reversed and saw what he did then did a U-turn in front of me before driving off. One of his side mirrors had fallen off and I think that’s what hit the man.”
