The first southern branch of the popular Swedish do-it-yourself furniture store, IKEA, will open at the end of next month.

It is believed the new store will be the source of at least 15 percent of the total income to the chain in Israel.

The company carried out a special marketing survey in recent weeks in order to be sure it would adapt itself to the southern market.

“The store is tailored to the residents of the area,” said the manager of IKEA Be’er Sheva.

The furniture chain, which is Kosher L’Mehadrin in Israel, still does not have a branch in Jerusalem.
