WASHINGTON – Mitt Romney’s Lacrosse moment awaits him. The Democratic convention in Los Angeles was where Joe Lieberman made history as the first Jewish candidate on a major ticket on Aug. 17, 2000. But two days later, history came to life in Lacrosse, Wis., the little college town where Lieberman walked – and pointedly did not drive – to the local synagogue on his first post-nomination Shabbat.

Motor vehicle accident in the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Ave. P involving a minivan and four door sedan. It appears that accident had occurred on Ocean Parkway in the extreme right southbound lane. There are no apparent injuries. The right lane is closed with numerous members from FDNY at the scene.

The U.S. Supreme Court returned to the lower courts the issue of whether Americans born in Jerusalem may list “Israel” on their passports – a ruling that drew praise from Jewish groups. The decision delivered Monday was a success for the family of Jerusalem-born boy Menachem Zivotofsky. His family for years has sought to force the State Department to agree to state on his passport that he was born in Israel, citing a law passed by Congress in 2002.

A Miami plastic surgeon decided on an innovative way to reach the market of nose job enthusiasts – young Jews ages 15-30 – and have fun doing it. He hired the Groggers, an up and coming Orthodox rock band, and traded a nose job for their hilarious Jewish video entermercial "Jewcan Sam." Now the American Society of Plastic Surgeons wants to lower the boom on the guy.

The Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel voted to provide emergency aid to the Jewish community of Greece, to help it address immediate needs in the wake of their country's terrible financial crisis. The $1 million will be spread over two years and help Greek Jewish institutions from going under. That amount will be just $250,000 short each year of the income of JAFI's top earner, Dr. Misha Galperin.
