tell a friendA group of Nobel peace prize-winners, artists and activists are calling for a military boycott of Israel following the recent attempt by the Jewish state to protect its citizens in the south from rocket barrages from Gaza.
In a letter signed by 52 prominent figures, including Nobel Prize winners Nelson Mandela, Mairead Maguire and Adolfo Perez, Pink Floyd performer Roger Waters, movie directors Mike Leigh and Ken Loach and others, the group called the US, EU, and other countries “complicit” in the death of Palestinians in Gaza due to their purchase and sale of weapons to Israel.
An article by England’s Guardian newspaper quotes the letter as saying:
“Horrified at the latest round of Israeli aggression against the 1.5 million Palestinians in the besieged and occupied Gaza Strip and conscious of the impunity that has enabled this new chapter in Israel’s decades-old violations of international law and Palestinian rights, we believe there is an urgent need for international action towards a mandatory, comprehensive military embargo against Israel,” the letter says.
“While the United States has been the largest sponsor of Israel, supplying billions of dollars of advanced military hardware every year, the role of the European Union must not go unnoticed, in particular its hefty subsidies to Israel’s military complex through its research programmes.”
The letter calls Brazilian, Indian, and South Korean military ties “unconscionable given their nominal support for Palestinian freedom”.

Israel is Not the villian here, the palistinians Do Not Want Peace and do Everything they Can to keep Israel DEFENDING itself so people like these can justify palistine, If Israel laid down their weapons, there wpould be all be murdered, if palistinians laid down their waepons, there would be Peace.
We need to pray for the Palistinians because they have to pay and it will be hell to pay, I would not want to be the one that did'nt stand beside Israel.
Get a Life! Those poor palestinians have been attacking Israel for years what about the Israelis? There, lives have been lost there as well. Who speaks for them? Why don't you go to Israel and spend a couple of months there. Right now not when all of the fighting has subsided or ended. Go see for yourselfs what damage has been done to Israel. Spend a few nights in a bunker amongst all the shelling. Nobel Laureates……..BS!
But the attacks on Israel are OK with these hypocrites.
The words of these academicians and so-called "notables" are shameful. As has been the case in general for the last 50 years, free speech has given way to abject hate speech on college campuses and in the public arena. And it is now politically correct in these venues to express anti semitic views with a venom not seen in decades. It seems that we are literally living in the early 1930s when the Jews were blamed for whatever "problems" these "notables" might claim to observe in world affairs. and the claims are incredible. When a small country defends itself from hundreds of random missiles fired at will….it is described as horrifying aggression. Oh really, Mr. Mandela? Finally….I hope all involved in this issue will take solace….or heed…as the case might be…in these words from the Bible….Genesis 12:3 says…. “I will bless those who bless Israel, and curse whoever curses Israel."
