Jibril Rajoub, the Palestinian Authority and Fatah party big-wig and PA soccer czar who has said that if he a nuclear bomb he would drop it on Israel, has called then-President George W. Bush a “fool” and accused him of having given Israel the go-ahead for the supposed poisoning of Yasser Arafat.
His latest intellectual outburst was aired on official Palestinian Authority television on Sunday November 10, and the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) now has translated and posted it.
Rajoub, deputy-secretary of the Fatah Central Committee and chairman of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, said, “It’s obvious that Israel wasn’t alone [in poisoning Arafat]; the US was there. That fool known as [George] Bush took away Yasser Arafat’s protection and gave [Israeli PM] Sharon the green light to liquidate Yasser Arafat.”
The Fatah leader is a throwback to the days of Arafat, and his behavior and comments paint a very clear and not very pretty picture of the “peace partner” that the Obama administration is so certain will protect what it would like to be the borders of Israel, until the eastern border is the Mediterranean Sea.
Rajoub is one of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ top honchos. In September, it was Rajoub who read a speech by Abbas in which praise was heaped on Ahmad Jabara Abu Sukkar, who thank God is dead. Sukkar planned a bombing attack, using a refrigerator filled with explosives, that killed 15 Israelis and wounded over 60 in Jerusalem in 1975.
Rajoub and other PA officials presented the terrorist’s family with a plaque of honor, made possible by the Oslo Accords.
It also was Rajoub who helped launch a ping-pong tournament in honor of the “Martyr (Shahida) Dalal Mughrabi,” who carried out the worst massacre in the Palestinian Authority’s annals of terrorism with the slaughter of passengers on the coastal road bus in 1978.
As part of the Abbas’ regime grand intentions to live at peace with Israel in a “two-state solution,” Rajoub, as head of the PA soccer association, stated two months ago that “he will not agree to any kind of bilateral relations or direct coordination [with Israelis].”
Now that he has called President Bush a fool, what will he call Obama?
