The relatives of a US citizen who was tortured and killed by Palestinian intelligence officers may not sue the Palestinian Authority or the PLO for damages under the Torture Victim Protection Act. The 11-page decision in Mohamad v. Palestinian Authority was written by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, ruling on the letter, rather than on the spirit, of the law.

Both Israel's premier and its president invoked the Iranian threat at the Yom Hashoah ceremony at Yad VaShem. Netanyahu said: "People who dismiss the Iranian threat as a whim or an exaggeration have learned nothing from the Holocaust." Peres said, "Today humanity has no choice, we must learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and stand strong against existential threats before it is too late."

Al-Shadoukhi was among the first detainees to be repatriated to Saudi Arabia from Guantanamo Bay.
