And I’m stuck this year, because I didn’t get around to getting my haircut before the 9 Days, never mind before the 3 weeks. Now it’s the hottest part of the summer, and I’m shaggy. The worst part is when I run to shul in the morning and my hair get wet from perspiration and I’m always worried about the moisture getting into the little scrolls inside my tefillin.

Come to think of it, the Women of the Wall have much longer hair than mine – how do they manage? Maybe they don’t run to shul.

Which is why the seminary girls were able to show up before they did, and take up the whole place…
