Intelligence and Transport Minister Yisrael Katz

Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz says he intends to urge the cabinet to condition aid to Gaza on the return of Israel’s fallen soldiers and those hostages who are still in the hands of Hamas.

Katz said on Sunday in a statement prior to the start of the weekly government cabinet meeting that he intended to propose a plan to cut all civil connection between Israel and Gaza at the meeting, in reference to an impending discussion on a possible ceasefire with the enclave’s ruling Hamas terrorist organization.

“The situation in Gaza is approaching a decision point: resolution or war,” he said.

“I will support any plan that includes establishing Egyptian infrastructure on land and sea for Gaza — under international supervision,” Katz said.

However, he underscored, “In the short-term, any aid to Gaza must be given on the condition of the return of our prisoners and fallen soldiers.”
