In meetings Monday with Israeli leaders, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called on them to take steps to strengthen the Palestinian Authority. According to a news report, Clinton has received a promise from President Morsi that he would not end the closure of the Gaza Strip. Clinton reiterated that the U.S. "commitment to Israel is rock solid. By strengthening Israel's security we are strengthening U.S. security."

The 140 participants on the “Remember Hebron!" tour were English speakers from places like Jerusalem, Ra’anana, Tel Aviv, and Modi’in. For 50 shekels (45 for Jerusalemites) they got to take a luxury bus for a tour of Hebron organized by Likud Anglos and Young Likud, and give "a show of support for the Jewish community of Hebron and Jewish settlement in all the Land of Israel!" There was no mention of the fact that Likud Prime Minister Netanyahu in 1997 delivered most of Hebron into the hands of the PLO.

President Morsi is certain to bring up his pledge to seek the release of Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman from U.S. custody.

Deputy Secretary of State William Perez said he delivered this message during his meetings with Morsi on Sunday. One of the issues Morsi is certain to bring up as part of the preparation for his visit, would be his pledge to seek the release of Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman from U.S. custody.
