Protest of Half a Million Haredim to Shut Down Jerusalem on Sunday

The Haredi protest against Lapid’s drive to draft them is only the first shot in what promises to be an ugly war.

Following Wednesday’s report that Lapid is literally in the crosshairs of some Haredi zealot who might want to “solve” the problem by assassinating him, assuming the Haredi attack knows in which direction to aim a gun, police have gone on high alert for any over signs of violence.

If Lapid can compromise without losing the faith of his followers, or at least those who have not already given up  him, and if the Haredim can learn the word “compromise,” this ugly war of Jew against Jew can be averted.

That is about as likely as Sunday’s protest turning into a prayer rally for rain.

This article can be summed up in just two words – sinat chinam!

  6. Debbie Henderson says:

Why no mention of the Hesder Yeshiva rabbis who are attending and calling on their students to attend? Looks like this event is going to separate the men from the boys.

  7. and they claim to be the true Jews they will end up being the destroyers of Judaism

  8. Rezar é bom, mas trabalhar pela defesa do país também é. Os religiosos deveriam ser exemplo, mas estão querendo viver somente de rezas ? que vergonha !

  9. Mary Lou Huebert says:

Have they not read that if you don't work you should not eat. And why do they hide behind others to protect them?

Protests wont help, a travel boycott may.

  11. Yechiel Baum says:

The travel boycott would benefit the organizations and US treasury from using welfare checks for their travel.

Doing the demonstration on Purim week is reminensant of Haman wanting be honored with the parade so these hatted Hamani rabbi's are not Jewish rabbis since they defame Hashem and his Eretz Yisrael. Time for them to go back to the Ukraine, Lithuania, Germany, and Hungary, Eygpt, Syria, and Iraq, and Morrocco where life is better for htem since they would not serve in their armies but rather pay taxes for being Jews.

  12. dont these people love Israel and their fellowmen to want to fight with them for their own land. How come they dont know the Torah that even Joshua conscripted every able man into his army on the way to the land Israel? so sad to see them sow discord among brethren, proverbs 6 16-19 six things the Lord hates yea seven are an abomination unto Him,

  13. Daniel Fried says:

What an ugly one sided anti charedi article. You should change the name of the Jewish Press to the Jewish hatred!

  14. Yaacov Haber says:

This is complete Motzi Shem Ra and bigotry. I plan on stopping to even consider advertising in the Jewish Press.

  15. SHAME ON YOU ! you have no Jewish pride. only self-hate. I am so jealous of your religion – but not of "religious hate mongers"

    Shame on You Jews!
How much Hatred can you spew at each other
I am a gentile who has taken interest in the different Jewish sects.
I was so inspired by the prayer rally in Jerusalem – it showed amazing unity – 300,000 people that care for their religion – and their national heritage, they stood up proudly, respectably for their age old beliefs. I am really jealous – This should make all Jews so Proud.
how dare you spout all this negative satiric journalism…!
Ugh! you truly are not deserving to call yourself a Jew!

I asked about a specific prayer that they prayed – VAANYNOO – and I was explained that it was a special prayer for rainfall.
    So much for your sarcasm…!
Maybe next week it will rain? Then what will you have to jeer about?
