A decisive majority of Israelis, 63%, support the expulsion of the families of Arab terrorists to Gaza or Syria, a Panels Politics Institute / Knesset Channel survey revealed Thursday. Only 25% of the public are opposed.

Earlier this week, President Reuven Rivlin expressed his sorrow at the findings of a Pew Research survey, showing that more than half of Israel’s Jews support a transfer of Israel’s Arab citizens, with a strong majority of religious and Haredi Jews supporting it.

The new survey found that 62% of Israelis do not feel safe these days, because of the ongoing wave of terrorism. Only 38% reported feeling safe. In that context, 60% are afraid of being hurt directly by a terrorist event, compared with 39% who aren’t afraid.

22% of Tel Aviv residents who responded to the survey said they were very anxious about being hurt, compared with only 14% of Jerusalem residents, this despite the fact that Jerusalem has seen far more terror attacks than Tel Aviv in recent months.

A strong majority of Israelis — 77% — think government is not doing enough to take care of the current terror wave, compared with only 8% who say the government is doing enough to stop the terror.

Respondents were asked who would be the most fitting defense minister under the current circumstances. Moshe Ya’alon leads the list with 24%, but MK Avigdor Lieberman also received 24%. In third place stands Naftali Bennett with 17%, followed from a distance by Yair Lapid and Yitzhak Herzog, with 3% each.

64% of Israelis believe the United Arab List MKs should be sanctioned, compared with 24% who oppose the idea.
