IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot and top brass meet with Gaza Belt community leaders

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eizenkot met Tuesday afternoon with the mayors of the communities and regional council district heads in the Gaza Belt region to discuss the situation in Gaza.

IDF Maj.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, Commander of the OC Southern Command, and Brig.-Gen. Yehuda Fuchs, Commander of the Gaza Division conducted a security assessment together with Eizenkot in the area.

Included in the meeting were Eshkol Regional Council head Gadi Yarkoni, Sdot Negev Regional Council head Tamir Idan, Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council head Alon Natan Shuster, and Ashkelon Beach Regional Council head Yair Farjun.

The commanders briefed the community leaders regarding their findings after the situation assessment, and discussed the level of preparedness of the settlements and the civilian front in the south.

The IDF Chief of Staff expressed his “great appreciation” for the leadership and civilian strength demonstrated by the heads of the communities and citizens in the Gaza Belt region.
