Police have closed the Capitol and the immediate area Saturday afternoon after one man shot himself dead and left a suspicious package outside the building.

Visitors and workers were not allowed to enter or leave the Capitol, but Congress was on spring break.

Capitol police are investigating the package, apparently a suitcase belonging to the man who shot himself, but officials ruled out terror as a motive.

Police are searching for the man’s car.
