John McCain For President
Editorial Board
Posted Oct 22 2008
The Jewish Press heartily endorses John McCain for president of the United States.
Senator McCain has long been the poster boy for what's made America great. He heroically served our nation in the Vietnam War, doing what he was called on to do and going well beyond, incurring great personal suffering and deprivation he could have avoided simply by trading on his family connections. For five years he famously declined to abandon his fellow prisoners and end his travail. In a time of political pandering and rank opportunism, Sen. McCain's courage, integrity and fortitude are traits to be treasured in a national leader. And in a period of corrosive inter-party political strife, Sen. McCain offers a solid record of bipartisanship. Indeed, his failure to regularly follow the Republican Party line often drew the ire of President Bush and Republican congressional leaders. Plainly, Sen. McCain has demonstrated he has the leadership skills key to lead our nation at a time of great testing. He is also persuasive on the issues and was actually highly thought of even in Democratic circles until Barack Obama made it the linchpin of his campaign to try to persuade voters of a direct link between Sen. McCain and the policies of President Bush - particularly with regard to the war in Iraq and the current economic crisis - and therefore a shared responsibility. The New York Daily News, even while endorsing Sen. Obama, heaped great praise on Sen. McCain, calling him an "outstanding" senator, a man of character, a man of "courage in the face of torture," "dead on" right on Iraq, the soul of bi-partisanship, and "tough minded" on foreign affairs and military issues. But while the paper acknowledged "there is no question [Sen. McCain] would bring change," it lamented that "McCain's misfortune is that he is the standard bearer of a party whose leadership, starting at the top, ran the U.S. onto the rocks." But let's look at this notion of shared responsibility. Sen. Obama makes the point that Sen. McCain supported the invasion of Iraq while he himself spoke out against it from the beginning. Yet whatever one thinks of President Bush's foreign policy, including the war in Iraq, the fact is there has not been another terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. Yes, there have been more than 4,000 American deaths in Iraq, and each loss is a great tragedy in itself, but there were nearly 3,000 deaths on 9/11. Without question the war in Iraq, which drew Al Qaeda into an arena where America's military power could be most effectively deployed against the terrorist infrastructure, palpably disabled the ability of Islamic extremists to coordinate large-scale attacks on the American continent. And it should not be forgotten that Sen. McCain had long criticized President Bush for not putting enough American power on the ground. Sen. McCain is also being linked to the current economic downturn, again because both he and President Bush are Republicans. But as documented by the release of Sen. McCain's correspondence file on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, it was Sen. McCain who had long been drawing attention to the excesses of the two agencies which contributed so greatly to the current economic meltdown. More pointedly, consider the following excerpts from a front-page story in Sunday's New York Times about the role of Henry Cisneros, President Bill Clinton's secretary of housing and urban development, in the mortgage debacle:
If anything, President Bush inherited a mess left by President Clinton. By what stretch does one then lay this on Sen. McCain simply because he is a Republican?
But it is not only Sen. McCain's positives that commend him to voters as their choice on November 4. Unfortunately, there is also the matter of Sen. Obama's glaring negatives, some of which are quite alarming. As The Jewish Press and others have pointed out, there is a rather disturbing dimension to Sen. Obama. Although he has succeeded in denying public access to much of his past relating to his work as a community organizer and his connection to the radical advocacy ACORN group, what we do know speaks volumes of where his views are grounded. For more than 20 years he turned to the virulently anti-American and anti-Israel churchman Reverend Jeremiah Wright for counsel and advice. He has explained away Rev. Wright's diatribes as an understandable reaction to the black experience in America. He also worked closely for years with the notorious William Ayres, Jr. on reforming educational policy, though Mr. Ayres's stated mission is to employ education to cleanse America of its many alleged sins. From where we sit, Sen. Obama emerges as a representative of the radical left, which does not accept the notion of American exceptionalism and the presumptive validity of American tradition. We recall his gratuitous ridicule of those middle Americans who, supposedly out of frustration, "cling to their religion and their guns." We fear Sen. Obama is not intent on merely changing this or that policy but the system in its entirety. This strain emerges also in the area of international affairs. His observation that the leaders of Hamas support him because they expect him to abandon President Bush's "cowboy diplomacy" reflects the view that perhaps our enemies have a point and America is to be blamed for most of the world's problems. This was underscored when he said he would negotiate with such leaders as Iran's Ahmadinejad "without preconditions." And then there are the insults to our intelligence he regularly delivers. When he immediately backtracked from his declaration that he supported an "undivided Jerusalem" as the capital of Israel, he explained that he only meant it shouldn't be divided by fences. He has also regularly played the race card by asserting that Sen. McCain would resort to claiming that he, Sen. Obama, doesn't look like others who have run for president. To criticisms of his relationship with Rev. Wright, Sen. Obama claimed he wasn't present on those occasions when Rev. Wright spilled his venom. He initially said of his contacts with William Ayres that they were minimal, and later that he thought Mr. Ayers had "been rehabilitated" - despite the fact that Mr. Ayres regularly bemoans his failure to have planted more bombs during his terrorist heyday. Perhaps among the most troubling things about Sen. Obama was his recent comment to the now famous "Joe the plumber." When "Joe" asked him why he planned to raise taxes on him, Sen. Obama responded: "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." This a radical departure from mainstream thinking in our country. It is one thing for the government to provide for the less fortunate and for those in dire need. It is quite another to embrace a scheme to arbitrarily redistribute the wealth from the get-go in order to institutionally equalize the situation of all Americans. In addition to the concerns we have as Americans about Sen. Obama's decidedly leftist predilections, those of us with a particular interest in Israel are troubled by the prospects of an Obama presidency. His political bent, facile changes of position and overall failure to stick to his word make us leery of the reliability of his oft-stated commitment to the Jewish state. We have no such hesitancy about Sen. McCain. Read Comments (76)

Obama for President
Date 04:10, 10-20, 08 When he was a member of the Illinois Legislature, Senator Obama had as a colleague and roommate Illinois State Senator Ira Silverstein, an Orthodox Jew who praises him as very intelligent and fair-minded. Recently, Senator Obama has been an adjunct (part-time) professor in the Law School of the University of Chicago. The Jewish students there likewise praise him.
Unwise.
Date 07:10, 10-20, 08 The past eight years have been the undoing of the global economy. Even worse, the standing among our allies around the world is at an all time low. We need to send a message, not only to ourselves, but to the rest of the world, that the United States is able to adjust to a new way of being a neighbor to the world. There is nothing about Barack Obama that suggests he will be anything but completely supportive of Israel, and of the Jewish people around the world. This was an unwise endorsement.
A Voice of Reason
Date 11:10, 10-20, 08 Finally a voice of reason in a sea of insanity. Thanks for your prayerful consideration for supporting McCain. As a Christian, I am concerned not only where Obama wants to take this country, but also the fact that he wants to negotiate with people that want to destroy Israel. The Bible tells me that Israel is a nation of God and I'm to do my best to protect it. Preventing this fraud and terrorist supporter from getting in office is my highest priority. Peace and Blessings to all who support McCain.
Dead On Accurate
Date 11:10, 10-20, 08 Why are Jews still looking to vote overwhelming for Obama? Why are the words herein not echoed by other media outlets? Most importantly, why is this article not referenced by a slew of web sites and other news organizations? Eric Jeffery Fairfax, VA ejeffery at techie dot com
Thank You!
Date 02:10, 10-21, 08 Thank you for your incisive and succint summary of some of the troubling aspects about Senator Obama. Of particular concern to me is his association with Odinga (an avowed Marxist) in Kenya before the Presidential elections in that country early this year. The Memorandum of Understanding that Odinga signed with the Kenyan Muslim population in order to secure their support, as well as the subsequent murder and violence after Odinga lost the election, is particularly revealing to me in regards to Mr. Obama's apparant lack of a principled conscience or moral foundation. Odinga is a mass murderer, if only by his tacit approval of the violent and deadly protests. You might be interested in researching Obama's visible and documented (video) support for Odinga during his six day trip there last year during the New Hampshire primary campaign. I am not Jewish but I am a supporter of Israel, and I am gravely concerned for Israel if Obama gets elected. Particularly in light of Sen. Biden's statements over the weekend in Seattle when he alluded to (he actually used the word "guaranteed") a "generated international crisis" during the first 6 months of an Obama presidency. Once again, thank you. Mike Andrew - Seattle, WA
Unbelievable
Date 10:10, 10-21, 08 I hope that a vast majority of American Jews ignore this inflammatory editorial. Fortunately, that seems to be the case. As a 32 year old Jewish male, I heartily endorse Barak Obama, as do my parents, my sister, my two brothers and our grandmother (and almost all of her Jewish friends.) To think that the ugly policies and politics of John McCain and Sarah Palin could win the endorsement of this publication is beyond belief. Keith Stephens
It's About Time!
Date 11:10, 10-21, 08 Jews voting en bloc for Defeatocrats has always puzzled me. Why would so many whose collective intelligence and moral behavior exceeds the norm continue decade after decade to vote for a party that is anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian, and seemingly at odds with Jewish self-interests? Is it because now the Defeatocrats have nominated O'Bama-the-Manchurian-Candidate who represents the rabbi-killing, pro-Muslim, Jew-hating fanatics who vote for him only because of the color of his skin without considering that he is not even Constitutionally eligible to occupy the Office of President? Is it because Lieberman, seeing what is plain for all to see, endorses McCain? For whatever reason, I hope this is a habit that the Jewish community will practice in the future.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Date 12:10, 10-21, 08 I just read your endorsement of Senator McCain. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think that reading a political endorsement would bring tears to my eyes. To finally see a newspaper not spreading rose petals at Obama's feet. I have been very concerned that we in the USA are getting close to needing something like Radio Free Europe in order to be able to hear the whole truth about a issue or a candidate's close ties with unsavory people and sitting in a church for 20 years without hearing anything. I am a proud American with great fears for our future and it is not from a financial crisis. In watching my country's citizens being lead down the path to communisim and media or news organizations helping with censored news on the candidate. Thank you and many Blessings on you for standing up and speaking the truth. Patty Kelly Atlanta, Ga
Obama's Thought Police
Date 12:10, 10-21, 08 I was at a social gathering the other night with members of my Temple, and Obama was mentioned with reverence. Though I am not a great McCain fan, I stated that I think that Obama is dangerous for America and definitely NOT a friend of Israel. Well, you should have seen the reaction. After voicing their shock that anyone couldn't love Obama, my fellow congregants literally walked away from me. Their condescension and elitism only served to prove that Obama is a dangerous man. There is only one way to think and behave in Obama's world, and if you're not with them, then you are branded as the Enemy. Obama's believers are turning political correctness into a way of life. I also recently received an email from a friend that implied that anyone who doesn't vote for Obama is a racist. This offensive stance again only offers one road to follow: Obama's way or the highway. I have only seen such bullying coming from Obama supporters. I have found that people who are voting for McCain are far milder in their demeanor. I am tired of being put under attack, and I believe that if Obama is elected, the situation will only worsen. This country is supposed to be based on the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If I am vilified for wishing to exercise my liberty by voting for a viable candidate, then how am I supposed to be free to pursue happiness? And what becomes of the quality of all our lives when free speech is squelched, and the Obama party line is the only speech that is acceptable in social circles? If Obama is elected, I think my many liberal Jewish friends will be in for a very rude awakening at the World According to Obama. Obama is for change; changing from liberty to legislated socialism; from happiness to haranguing, and from life to monitored existence. And Obama's first step toward change has already begun, as friends eagerly enlist in the Thought-Police Brigade and gleefully pillory anyone who does not dutifully tout the Party Line.
Right On!
Date 12:10, 10-21, 08 O-mein! Your explantion of your endorsment is thorough and complete.
Courage
Date 12:10, 10-21, 08 Your endorsement is a mark of courage because if Obama is elected you will be out of the press business
McCain in 2008!
Date 02:10, 10-21, 08 Thank you, Jewish Press, for standing up and doing what so few media outlets are doing: Endorsing a candidate that will keep our nation safe and continue to wholeheartedly support our overseas allies.
AMEN!!!!
Date 03:10, 10-21, 08 This is the most well written piece in support of Senator McCain I've seen. It's interesting that it comes from the Jewish Press. I hope your readers will support Senator McCain. Joe Figueiredo Carlisle, PA
Hidden Agenda
Date 03:10, 10-21, 08 Finally, someone understands the point. Obama isn't out to change America for the better. He's out to carry out the "social justice" agenda of the extreme left as taught by the Rev. Wrights, Ayers and his many other mentors. He's out to level the playing field and topple Capitalism as we know it. They have cleverly disguised their revolt and turned it into indoctrinating the youth of American on our University campuses -- our teachers and their students which are our children and the leaders of tomorrow. The Communist Manifesto said they would take us down from the inside out. Who needs bombs when they have words, the attention of our youth and the power of Congress and the President? Does there need to be improvements? Yes. Do we need the extreme agenda? No. The blood of our grandfathers and mothers has been shed to protect freedom and democracy. A vote for Obama would trample on that blood and take us the next step towards Socialism which is one step away from Communism. Doesn't anyone care about more than the economy and our bank accounts. Does anyone care about our Country, our heritage, our freedom and the world?
McCain is the Right Choice
Date 04:10, 10-21, 08 Thanks to the Jewish Press for endorsing Sen. McCain for President. Also, thank you for outlining the reasons why. The reasons you spelled out could not make the reason for the endorsement more clear. Honestly and thoughtfully written.
much left out
Date 10:10, 10-22, 08 Readers should also be aware of the following: *His NY Times interview when he said Hamas has "legitimate claims" with Israel *His statement in May when he said "no one is suffering more than the Palestinians" *His long time friendship with Rashid Khaldi, founder of the Arab American Action Network, who was also responsible for bringing Ahamdinejad to speak at Columbia *He has spoken at numerous pro-Palestinian events in the Chicago area *He's been endorsed by Syria, Moamar Khadaffi, Hamas and Castro ~ Dan
Vote McCain
Date 03:10, 10-23, 08 I'll let Senator Lieberman have a say on this one: "When it comes to the Middle East, Senator McCain's Record on Israel is a 26 Year Record of steadfast support for the American-Israel Relationship is not just in his voting record, it is in his heart and in his head based on his own understanding of history and the historic Jewish claim to the land of Israel." Now let's see Barack Obama come out with a statement like this one of John McCain's: "Jerusalem remains undivided, and the fact is, it is undivided and must remain the capital of Israel. I will never press Israel into making concessions that would endanger its security. I will move our capital to Jerusalem. It is undivided and must remain the capital of Israel."
1968 or 2008?
Date 03:10, 10-23, 08 The editorial endorsing John McCain is not only written in the style of an 8th grade persuasive essay, but it is laughably contradictory. You excuse McCain's direct and willful ties to President Bush and the failures of his party, and then go on to denigrate Obama for the words and actions of others with whom he has only had minimal contact, some only as a child. Your article is a joke, and an embarrassment to Judaism's thirst for knowledge and emphasis on critical thinking. -Bill Glucroft
Remembering!
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 Who amoung us remembers the smooth talking leader in Germany in the 1930s, who promised "Change"? We all know the result. Look at the close ties Obama has with many of the severest critics of Israel and its continued existance. Look at how many of Pres. Carter's people are working with his campaign. If elected Obama will turn on Israel in a heartbeat. Remember it was the House of Saud that supported his entry into Harvard. The fate of The United States and Israel and their freedoms depends on the outcome of the vote on Nov. 4. MAY G D BLESS THE UNITED STATES AND ISRAEL!
The Right Wing
Date 12:10, 10-23, 08 Yes, it is true that Mussolini made the trains run on time, I think. But what society has ever benefitted from having the right wing in the saddle? There are Republicans who are alive, and those turning over in their graves, who are appalled at the manner in which their party is controlled. There is little difference between a say anything Karl Rove and a say anything Joseph Goebbels. Each believed in the Big Lie.......say it over and over again and some will believe. The rest we will just bludgeon with whatever weapons we have at our disposal. To be Jewish, to understand Judaism, is to repudiate the politics of selfishness, of power for the sake of power, and to eschew an anti-intellectual, unreaasoning approach to problems. McCain has shown his impetuous nature time and time again, notably in his choice of running mate. But, forgetting Little Miss Muffett for the time being, we need a thoughtful, bright person with a vision for the future in the Oval Office, not some captive to his party's right wing who sacrificed everything he believed in, I think, for the sake of trying to achieve power. Richard D. Weiss
Jewish Press - Thank you supporting John McCain
Date 02:10, 10-23, 08 Your article endorsing John McCain is outstanding. It is well written and succinct in explaining why an Obama presidency would be dangerous...not only to America, but Israel as well. I appreciate that you pointed out Mr. Cisneros' roll in the market meltdown. I found an article several weeks ago which was published in the September 30, 1999 edition of The New York Times. It reported that Fannie Mae was easing credit, but because of the risk, it could be the government would need to bail them out at some time. To read the entire article, check out the New York Times online and search September 30, 1999. I concur that President Bush inherited many problems from the Clinton Administration. It will not be cleaned up over night. My vote for John McCain was based on many of the factors you detailed in your article. However, I find it quite disturbing that many Obama supporters are willfully following his agenda without question. There appears to be a limited amount of objective, critical thinking. Thanks again for a great article! Terry Thompson-Manning Denver, CO
Clueless no more
Date 05:10, 10-23, 08 Thank you for explaining what many clueless among us refuse to see. I have found that Jews for many reasons would rather trust their minds instead of their hearts. Those of us paying attention can readily see that Barack Obama had no ties or relationships with Pro Israel groups until he decided to run for President, while he had many relationships to Pro Palestinian ones. Rashid Khalidi and his wife Mona are the most prominent. What many Jews are also failing to see is his relationships with people like Ayers and Mike Klonsky. These relationships are linked to the present and will have major influences over our educational systems which have already become radicalized. Ayers is involved in social justice programs and believes in his changing our government from within(since he failed by bombing it) and Klonsky is a known communist who Obama espouses. How best to do this by changing the hearts and minds of our children in public schools. If they succeed in their goals, who will want to fight for this country to protect its freedoms? I could go on and on with all the info that we do know but thank G-d that the Jewish Press is paying attention. I was thinking that it will have to be the hand of g-d to help us avoid this catastrophe. Maybe it will be- in the form of The Jewish Press.
The Jews supporting Obama are blind
Date 05:10, 10-23, 08 I support 100% your endorsement of McCain and the reasons behind it. Why do not more of us stand behind McCain? Why do so many of us trust Obama, a demagogue who will say anything to get elected? Hamas supports him; West-European Antisemites rave over him; Louis Farrakhan loves him... Do we have to stand with them? Did not history teach us to distrust the self-styled harbingers of "hope and change"?
A JEW FOR MCCAIN
Date 05:10, 10-23, 08 IN MY OPINION, ANY JEW WHO VOTES FOR OBAMA EITHER DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ISRAEL'S SURVIVAL, OR HAS HIS HEAD UP HIS REAR END - OR OBAMA'S. WHEN GOLDA MEIER REQUESTED DESPERATELY NEEDED REPLACEMENT TANKS FROM SEC/DEFENSE WEINBURGER IN THE 1972 YOM KIPPOR WAR, HE REFUSED TO RECOMMEND SENDING THEM. SHE TOLD THAT TO PRESIDENT NIXON WHO THEN ORDERED WEINBURGER TO SEND EVERYTHING THAT COULD FLY TO ISRAEL LOADED WITH TANKS AND AMMO. NIXON SAVED ISRAEL. OBAMA WOULDN'T DO THAT SINCE HE WROTE IN 'AUDACITY OF HOPE': "I WILL STAND WITH THE MUSLIMS SHOULD THE POLITICAL WINDS SHIFT IN AN UGLY DIRECTION."
McCain is honorable and I trust him!
Date 07:10, 10-23, 08 Jimmy Carter was once thought to be a friend of Israel. He is an anti-semetic. I fear that Obama is the same. He is the candidate of Rev Wright and Farrikan. If Obama wins the Palastinians/Hamas will be dancing in the street. If Jews vote for Obama we get what we deserve.
Sanity!
Date 07:10, 10-23, 08 I'm sick and tired of the intollerance of my Jewish friends. I find they are rigid and close minded, refusing to understand where our economy broke down. McCain is an American Hero, he won't abandone us if a focus group has a different opinion about Israel. My husband and I have only ten more years to earn incomes --if our companies keep us. These are the years after we educated three children and planned to dramatically increase our savings. Now that we've lost a substantial part of our 401K it's especially important that our hard earned income not be handed over to people who don't pay taxes. My brother lives in Israel--we are the children of Holocaust survivors--let's not leave our future to a man with no record other than Reverand Wright and Bill Ayers! TFK, Somerset County, NJ
10/24: New Gallup Poll Shows Jewish Voters FAVOR Obama Greatly, 74% to 21%!
Date 07:10, 10-23, 08 Jewish voters nationwide have grown increasingly comfortable with voting for Barack Obama for president since the Illinois senator secured the Democratic nomination in June. They now favor Obama over John McCain, by more than 3 to 1, 74% to 21%. Read more at GALLUP's website: g a l l u p . c o m
Endorsement of John McCain
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 Fantastic! I am thrilled to see this endorsement. I hope that others will realize that John McCain is a true friend to Israel. I am an independent Jewish voter from Massachusetts and will be voting for Senator McCain.
Thank you
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 As an american Jew i thank you with all my heart for endorsing John Mccain I believe he is the right man for taking us to a better place and i know he will protect Israel, he is am american Hero and a man with honor and integrity and a love for this Country i pray every day that he wins as if Obama wins i only see heart ache and the demise of the USA and i do not trust him when it comes from Israel Thank you
McCain needs the Jewish Community Vote
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 Thank you, for seeing all the truth in this election and for standing up the what is right. We need the Jewish community to stand up and vote for the best person for America and Israel and that man is John McCain.Share this imformation with all you know . Let them know the truth not what they hear through the media
Thank you
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 Thank you for this endorsement. I am a republican Jew and firm supporter of Israel. While I will not defend everything Bush has done neither am I a party line voter. I vote for the right person regardless of party. I am not a fan of McCain either but when I look at Obama's background I can't justify voting for him. Obama in the white house threatens Israel, Americas free speech, and the thuggery of his followers Jewish and Gentile is truly freightening. I thought the best candidates were Bill Richardson on the Democrat Side and Mitt Romney on the republican side. Given the choice while the only republican in my family even they are voting McCain and most like my parent for the first time in their lives are pulling the level for a republican. They may never do so again either it is just that having Obama's policies scare them more than McCains. Adam Shun
Thank You!
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 Thank you to the Jews of this great nation for standing strong against a man that some have described as the Anti-Christ himself. His views and his intentions for this country based on where he came from and how he got to where he is today suggest that he has plans to destroy the foundation in which the United States and Israel have stayed so strong for so many years. Pass the word and make it strong that a vote for Obama is a vote for the end of Democracy and the safety for all in the free world. TCM, New Jersey
Maybe there is real hope
Date 08:10, 10-23, 08 Jews are beginning to get wise to the fact that blindly voting Democrat doesn't serve their best interest. As far as the comments claiming that Obama will be a friend to the Jews and Israel, only time will tell, but anyone who surrounds himself with so many anti-Semites from Wright and Pfleger to his advisers such as Powers and Brezinski is most likely not going to be there when Jews are suffering. BTW, Ira Silverstein is a political hack. He would sell out his mother if it helps the Dem Party. I know, he was once my rep.
It's good to see not everyone is blind
Date 09:10, 10-23, 08 This is a great article. It gives so many good reasons to support McCain. Mostly common sense. There's a saying that says "Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are." This article does such a good job of explaining how Obama has been associates with folks who are anti-American, then treats the American people like they are idiots by saying that the issue is the economy, not who he associated with in the past. I am so happy to see that there are still some of my fellow Jews that have common sense, and have not been blinded by Obama and the media. It has been so difficult to see the media, the ads, the lies, the fake poll numbers, and not keep the faith..... It has been so difficult an scary. Thanks to this article I am starting to see that there are so many of us who feel this way. Hardly anyone in the media supports McCain, but that is okay, because the media doesn't matter, what matters are the votes. And I'm starting to see, finally, that I am right. No matter how many commercials they play, or how many lies they say about the polls,or how many people they have on the internet spreading lies about McCain, America cannot be bought. I am so happy to see this publication is standing up to what they belive is right when everyone else seems to be going the other route, and is willing to take the criticistm and hate that the Obama folks are going to unleash their way. There is nothing to fear as long as we all stand together against people who are friendly with folks who dislike our nation and who dislike Israel. Go Jewish Press. I am your newest greatest fan!
Nicely said!
Date 09:10, 10-23, 08 As an American Jew, it's so nice to know others of my religion actually think and apply intelligence to elections! I will never understand why Jews predominantly vote Democrat. I have a favorite Uncle, we will never see eye-to-eye on politics. Perhaps if more influential organizations come forward like this, it will break the tendency to vote against self-interest that baffles me. Thank you!
Hear, hear
Date 10:10, 10-23, 08 A well-reasoned and intelligent endorsement. In fact, Obama's associates are even more disturbing than your endorsement lets on. He has long associated with Rashid Khalidi, a pro-Hamas professor at Columbia. One of Obama's advisors on national security is Gen. Tony McPeak, who buys into the Walt and Mearsheimer contention that Jews control the US government. Earlier this year, Obama sacked his advisor, Samantha Powers, who called Hillary Clinton a "monster" and more disturbingly, advocated a US invasion of Israel. Obama has been called the "Messiah" by none other than Louis Farrakhan, who lives a few blocks away from the Obamas in their hoity-toity leftist neighborhood. In contrast, McCain has been endorsed by Joe Lieberman, a man who has been censured and ridiculed by Democrats for his unity with our mission in time of war. It is a mystery how any fellow Jew could vote for Obama. What are people thinking?
McCain is the right choice
Date 10:10, 10-23, 08 I'm a registered Jewish Democrat who will vote for John McCain. McCain's character, courage and trustworthiness for all the people, compared to Obama's questionable ties to bad people, lack of experience,etc.,etc. make this an easy choice for me. Your endorsement is correct. Ralph North Wales,Pa.
Jews Wearing Blinders
Date 07:10, 10-24, 08 A very well-reasoned endorsement. I too have been shunned by The Left because I didn't agree with their views. Obama will be bad for America and worse for Israel. What especially upsets me are those who say that Obama's association with Ayers was only brief and that you can't impute anything about his beliefs because of that brief association. Well here's a list of some other associations- friends and advisors of Obama: TONY MC PEAK: Obama's military advisor and campaign co-chairman. Blamed American Jews in NY and Miami for the lack of peace in the Middle Ease and accused American Jews of dual loyalty. RASHID KHALIDI: Founder of Arab American Action Network which has been formally named a terrorist organization, and employee of the PLO News Agency under Arafat. Had fund- raising in his home for Obama and was on board of Woods Fund with Obama which gave money to AAAN. ZBIGNIEW BRZEZINSKI: International Affairs Advisor. Known anti-Israel views and praised Mearshiemer and Walt's anti-Israel book about the "Israel Lobby". SAMANTHA POWER: Senior Foreign Policy Advisor. Favors international intervention to impose a peace settlement. Promotes slashing US aid to Israel and giving it to Palestinans. Claims US policy is overly influenced by "special interests" (American Jews). JERIMIAH WRIGHT: His minister. Anti-Israel, pro Nation of Islam. TONY REZKO: A Syrian with ties to Obama beyond the famous real estate transaction. Big financial supporter. Rezko had financial problems and his $300,000 real estate gift to Obama was immediately preceeded by $3.5 million from an Iraqi (Nadhmi Auchi) who was at one time an arms procurer for Sadam Hussein. Rezko also has ties to Elijah Mohammad's son (founder of Nation of Islam) in business dealings in Chicago which is currently under investigation. DAVID BONIOR: Foreign Policy Advisor. Called the "biggest supporter of the anti-Israel lobby in Congress" when he was a congressman. JOE BIDEN: Despite his mainstream credentials, has a long history dating back to 1988 of taking anti-Israel positions at odds with the rest of the Senate and America in general. If one, or two, or three Advisors don't make a case for his anti-Israel ideology, how about these eight. And there are more. Left leaning Jews should awake before it's too late. This is not your father's Democratic Party. Richard Aronow, White Plains, NY
its about time
Date 09:10, 10-24, 08 thank you for your support of McCain. He deserves all the Jewish vote. How could anyone not vote for him. Have our people gone crazy---Obamma is not for us--not for anyone. I have never been more worried that I am now that these bad forces will take over this country and the first ones to have a problem will be us !! I have lost many friends already but the truth is too obvious--hope your endorsement turns the tide !! Bette Schwager
Brilliant and Succinct Overview
Date 10:10, 10-24, 08 It is so refreshing for a media source to simply review the facts and past behavior of Obama instead of buying into his promises and rhetoric for a "social utopia." Thank you for your bravery compared to media filled with political correct elitism. I have a degree in journalism and have worked in journalism professionally and I am horrified at the blatant bias of our "mainstream" media. Coincidentally (suspiciously) my respected public university never bothered to warn me about this reality... As for Obama, actions speak louder than words. The man has done nothing in his entire career to show his undivided loyalty and support for Israel or for Jews and neither has the Black Civil Rights leaders to whom Jews have been so loyal and supportive of during all of their struggles for equality. And only McCain has actually fought against communism and literally given his blood to defend American values. From an economic standpoint, it boggles my mind how Jews - who have suffered from government persecution in every nation they have inhabited are consistently voting on the side of Big Government - the Democratic Party. My guess is that since Jews place a strong emphasis on education, they are exposed to a lot of the Liberal Academic mentality which confuses them and teaches them contempt for the Constitution and Capitalism. After all, I have never been exposed to a mandatory course on either of these two subjects throughout my entire public education or even in college despite these topics being the entire foundation of our country. Additionally once Jews inevitably reach financial success with hard work and education they fall into the same politically correct societal trap that so many elitists fall into which is to feel guilty for their success. Russia and Germany became Communist and Nazi because the people who gave their government too much power believed in a social utopia and look where it got them. Just because almost every Jewish relative I have is voting Democrat doesn''t mean I will be following the herd.
Rubbish
Date 11:10, 10-24, 08 I found this article to be insulting, malicious, and more of the same old Right Wing spin. Millions of American Jews will vote for Obama because of his record in standing with Israel, his deep friendships and connections with and support from many, many Jews--clergy included, and mostly, because they are not so foolish to fall for this type of typical political slander on someone who has continued to fight hand in hand with Jews for all aspects of human rights, fairness, and equality for all human beings. Being complicit in causing fear of an Obama presidency is merely a continuation of the Fear and Dread tactics that we have endured for the past 8 years, and as my Bubbe used to say, "you should be ashamed of yourself" for participating in this rubbish. Corey Los Angeles, CA
Obominamics
Date 11:10, 10-24, 08 We already had Obam''s brand of economics under President Carter. Remember stagflation? Infaltion during a recession. Carter increased taxes on the rich and businesses had no choice but to increase prices to pay that tax or go out of business. Many co.s did go out of business. They could not compete by lowering prices during the recession of that time because there costs were higher. That is exactly what Obama wants to do. He is promising jobs but his policies will destroy jobs. Back then interest rates went up to 21% due to the lack of faith in what Carter did. Inflation is usually contained in a recession due to competition. Increasing the cost of business prevents that and to survive co.s go to China or Mexico or Ireland to reduce costs so they can make products that are affordable. Carter blamed the rampant inflation on corp. greed because he refused to accept it was his policies that caused it. Who will Obama blame when his form of socialism does not work, greedy jews? Just think about his 20 year history of Pastor Wright being "My mentor, Friend, wedding pastor and my children''s Baptism." Not to mention his promoting Farakan as the man of the year. Are you Obama supporters crazy? Don''t close your mind to reality. The proof that he is listening to Rev. Wright is when his wife said "For the first time in my life I am proud to be an American." FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! Give me a break they are from the same mold as Rev Wright....
Great Endorsement!
Date 12:10, 10-24, 08 Thank you for well thought out endorsement of Senator John McCain. He has always been a friend to Israel. For Obama's views read his book. He provides his stand. Sound familiar? Germany in the thirties. Talk to Cuban exiles. They say Obama sounds like another charismatic politician named Fidel Castro. Please remember those who do not study History are doomed to repeat it. May G-d Bless the United States of America and the State of Israel. M. Samuel
To Unbelievable
Date 12:10, 10-24, 08 You are unbliebably STUPID! It's because of Jews like you that the Jews were led to the slauder under Hitler's rule, becaue they ignored all the warning signs and all the red flags and they didn't think any harm could come to them in a civilized society. Obama has all these Jew haters and radical marxists on his list of friends for one reason and one reason only, because he is one of them! WAKE UP MORON BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!
Foolish Jews
Date 01:10, 10-24, 08 I am a proud hardworking Jew. It is interesting to say the least that so many over educated Jews choose to turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the anti-semitic relationships of one outright aligned with the Palestinian cause. There's no ?? that John McCain and Sarah Palin will work hard for America's best interest to benefit those who have, those of us working to have and for those who would like to have but through no fault of their own are unable to achieve. G-d Bless America and I have always been proud to say that as John McCain.
It's about time
Date 01:10, 10-24, 08 Thank you for finally getting it. Why so many Jews think that an Obama presidency would be a good thing is beyond me. He's a far left liberal who will not trat Israel with any sort of even-handedness at all and he will further erode the Judeo-Christian values of the U.S. - the greatest nation on God's green earth.
Big surprise, JP´s endorsement of 4 more years of Bush
Date 02:10, 10-24, 08 The marvelous logic you use to justify the unjustifiable war in Iraq cites the lack of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9 11 as support for Bush´s fixation on Iraq and relative tolerance of the Afghani Pakistan frontier where Al Qaeda apparently is headquartered. Perhaps you fail to recognize that, however monstrous Saddam Hussein was, he never ´palled around´ with Al Qaeda. If you have not learned that yet, no surprise you are able to back McCain. For lack of a better alternative, I am voting for Senators Obama and Biden. Alan O., Silver Spring, Md.
Thanks so much
Date 03:10, 10-24, 08 Thnaks for this great endorsement, you are RIGHT ON. I am a lifelong, Jewish Democrat who is very disgusted with tactics of the DNC and who feels that Obama will be very dangerous to Israel. I am also very frustrated at the Liberal Jews attacking and being nasty to those who don't agree with them. They act like they are brainwashed, like they are in a cult and can not process reason. All they can do is recite untrue talking points from MSNBC and CNN. I pray for McCain/Palin to win several times each day, I donated a small amount of money to them and I do blog in favor of them. We all better move to Israel to protect her if Obama wins, G-d forbid. I have no doubt in the world that John McCain would be Israel's best friend:) Shabbat Shalom
Thank you for showing a backbone
Date 03:10, 10-24, 08 Your editorial, and the many comments covers the subject very well. All Jews in the world are indebted to you for your courage. Morris A. Schwalb. CPA, CFF, CrFA Philadelphia, PA
Support for McCain
Date 04:10, 10-24, 08 We support you Senator McCain for President. You would be a wise and good leader for America, for the Jews, for Israel and the wider global world. The Minskis
Thanks for choosing the best!
Date 04:10, 10-24, 08 I'm a lifelong Jewish liberal Democrat who has been voting for only Democrats for 40 years. Yes, I'm a baby boomer who will be 61 next year but who's counting? I supported Hillary in the primaries and was horrified at the tactics used by Obama and his campaign against Hillary and her supporters. He's doing the same things now against John McCain and Sarah Palin: playing the race card, misogyny, sexism, vote fraud, intimidation. If you hate Jews, hate Israel, hate America, hate white and/or rich people, Obama is your man. If, on the other hand, you feel differently, John McCain and Sarah Palin are the best for our country. I urge everyone to read Melanie Phillips latest article: Is America Really Going To Do This? spectator.co.uk/melaniephillips/2545716/is-america-really-going-to-do-this.thtml As for the economy, McCain would be best by far. So say 300 noted economists who have endorsed McCain's economic plan. It wasn't Bush who brought you this financial crisis. It was the Democrats, most notably Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer, and Barney Frank. It all began with Obama and ACORN who forced banks to make unsound loans. Please ignore what you've heard in the MSM and do some homework. Obama would be a disaster for this country, especially with a super majority of Democrats in Congress. Also, the polls are way off. This is a very close race. Each candidate has an equal chance of winning. Please make an informed decision.
Right On!
Date 05:10, 10-24, 08 I believe that the Jewish Press got it right. Obama would be Carter II that is much worse than any indication of Obama's attempt to make it Bush II. With Obama Israel would be isolated and this would create a very dangerous situation in the mideast. The editorial did not even mention all of the anti-Israel advisors to Obama. There is nothing in Obama's record that shows action. The saying is: it is not what you say, its what you do. McCain has passion and has demonstrated the will to take action for those areas in which he believes. In an economic time of termoil and so many foreign issues to be dealt with we need a president who has shown the commitment to lead. That's John McCain Alex-Brooklyn
A thoughtful endorsement
Date 05:10, 10-24, 08 Congratulations for your endorsement of John McCain. Let us hope your words will be translated into a positive response on Nov. 4th. When, oh when ,will American Jews and African Americans wake up to the fact that the Democratic Party is no longer the party of FDR, Truman, and Kennedy? When will they abandon their slavish commitment to a party that is so virulently left-wing and dangerous for the United States and the world? William S. Frankl, M.D.
Hats off to you
Date 09:10, 10-24, 08 I am a Jewish Conservative Republican from Colorado and a retired Army Senior NCO. I am depressed and nervous over this election and fear for our country if Obama is elected. I am also a gun owner and NRA Life member. I love my country very much and how this Marxist with his list of unscrupulous characters can become President is beyond my imagination. He will destroy our country and there is no Ronald Reagan to fix the damage. He will destroy America and assist in the destruction of Israel. I pray for America as our freedom is under attack. LIBERTY IS NOT ON THE ADVANCE, GOVERNMENT IS ON THE ADVANCE WE HAVE MORE TO FEAR OF OUR GOVERNMENT TODAY THAT THE COLONISTS HAD OF THE BRITISH.
we cant forget
Date 11:10, 10-24, 08 i am a dem, voting for mccain. he wants to cut government spending and has a record that supports that....i think once our government stops overspending there will be more left over for less fortunate people. i read mr. obama, who has 5 other names, and just wont disclose his records, i am afraid he might be hiding something. he isn't transparent, and he doesn't seem to answer to people...like he has a little bit of an attitude. mostly, i fear his relationship with islamic radicals....not so worried about american socialist anarchist hippy radicals, but very concerned about the quiet relationships he has with islamic extremists, like his palestinian professor, that is a plo. how can you take money (support from someone who calls israel and aparthied state and at the same time tell the israelis you care about them. you are going to owe somebody for all that money..you know what i mean? i could be wrong, but i saw a clip of another professor, who hooked him up with the saudis to pay for his columbia education...i thought we were angry with bush for his relationship with the saudis... even if he is a christian today, he still has the koran in his upbringing. that is not a bad thing, but that plus the professor, plus the roommate....just makes me uneasy. i can't vote for someone who takes money from someone who wants to see israel wiped off the face of the earth. i can't do it. even if these are rumors, there are so many of them, what if its not a rumor. i just think i would rather be safe the sorry. we know for certain, without a doubt, that john mccain will protect israel. remember, throughout history, it always seems to start with the jews. maybe its inevitable again, but why rush it?
to the - "new gallup poll..." poster from 10-28,08 7:10
Date 12:10, 10-25, 08 Gallup Shmallup.. by judging the comments on this forum, it looks more like 95% to 5% FAVOR McCain.. but, please don't let the facts confuse you.. Hagar S./Tsabarit in Los Altos. Go McCain!!
Thank you for endorsing John McCain
Date 09:10, 10-25, 08 As an observant Jew who is absolutely terrified of an Obama presidency (G-d forbid), it was a great relief to see that you endorsed John McCain. Obama has a long history of affiliation with terrorists, Communists and other sketchy personalities. An Obama presidency would lead to the downfall of this great nation, and would seriously threaten the safety and security of Israel.
Can someone out there get the Democrats to wake up!!
Date 10:10, 10-25, 08 Why is it that you all "Democrats" continue to ignore the FACTS?! Senator McCain is an accomplished leader! Senator Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a person who got into government purely by chance!! In the entire time that he has been in office he has done nothing!! No piece of legislature has ever been itroduced into the US Senate floor!! That is a FACT!! Look it up!! The man we should be praising as much as the sun shines should always be Senator John McCain he has the record to prove it and that is af FACT! Wake up Democrats centuries ago you were staunchly opposed to equal rights for the non-white and the North went against you to change that! What is it gonna take for you to stop thinking that you are better than in G_d we Trust? There is a Jew in heaven sitting at the right hand of G_d who hates everything that you and Senator Barack HUSSEIN Obama stand for! WAKE UP AND LOOK AT THE FACTS!! BE BRAVE AND ADMIT IT you have many shortcomings when it comes to being a party for AMERICA if you did not give hand outs you would not have a voting base!! Senator Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a media creation who has never authored any legislature in the Senate and frankly he lies... Shabbat Shalom Marv Ben Benjamin
We stand in support of your wisdom
Date 10:10, 10-25, 08 I am a U.S. Navy veteran with friends in Israel. I read in the mainstream U.S. media that the Jewish community overwhelmingly supports Obama yet I asked 8 of my Jewish friends why and none could explain it. They do not like Obama and know of no Jews that do. Your article and endorsement is logical and explains many of the exact reasons as to why I cannot understand how Jews would support Obama. I'm beginning to believe that the mainstream media is lying. (Ok, I'm not just beginning... I've been feeling that way for quite a while now) Peace to Israel. You have the support and love of many veterans like myself. Michael Peck Pennsylvania
The Case for John McCain
Date 11:10, 10-25, 08 The case for McCain is straightforward. The financial crisis has made us forget, or just blindly deny, how dangerous the world out there is. We have a generations-long struggle with Islamic jihadism. An apocalyptic soon-to-be-nuclear Iran. A nuclear-armed Pakistan in danger of fragmentation. A rising Russia pushing the limits of revanchism. Plus the sure-to-come Falklands-like surprise popping out of nowhere. Who do you want answering that phone at 3 a.m.? A man who's been cramming on these issues for the last year, who's never had to make an executive decision affecting so much as a city, let alone the world? A foreign policy novice instinctively inclined to the flabbiest, most vaporous multilateralism (e.g., the Berlin Wall came down because of "a world that stands as one"), and who refers to the most deliberate act of war since Pearl Harbor as "the tragedy of 9/11," a term more appropriate for a bus accident? Or do you want a man who is the most prepared, most knowledgeable, most serious foreign policy thinker in the United States Senate? A man who not only has the best instincts, but has the honor and the courage to, yes, put country first, as when he carried the lonely fight for the surge that turned Iraq from catastrophic defeat into achievable strategic victory? There's just no comparison. Obama's own running mate warned this week that Obama's youth and inexperience will invite a crisis -- indeed a crisis "generated" precisely to test him. Can you be serious about national security and vote on Nov. 4 to invite that test? And how will he pass it? Well, how has he fared on the only two significant foreign policy tests he has faced since he's been in the Senate? The first was the surge. Obama failed spectacularly. He not only opposed it. He tried to denigrate it, stop it and, finally, deny its success. The second test was Georgia, to which Obama responded instinctively with evenhanded moral equivalence, urging restraint on both sides. McCain did not have to consult his advisers to instantly identify the aggressor. Today's economic crisis, like every other in our history, will in time pass. But the barbarians will still be at the gates. Whom do you want on the parapet? I'm for the guy who can tell the lion from the lamb.
Redistribution of Wealth
Date 11:10, 10-25, 08 I would rather have Obama's plan to redistribute the wealth instead of what is going on now, which McCain would continue by his policies. When a lot of middle class people pay high prices at the gas pumps and an oil executive retires with $400 million that is unreasonable redistribution of wealth. Obama said he wanted to make things more fair. I couldn't agree more.
Jews who support Obama
Date 06:10, 10-26, 08 These are the Jews-in-name-only, the leftist kooks who have probably never set foot in shul, the Jews whose true religion is liberalism....don't go by last names, go by how committed they are to genuine Torah and Yiddishkeit! Chana Ruchel
The stellar issue!
Date 02:10, 10-26, 08 I am someone who cannot forget the Holocaust. During that time of wretched darkness the weak, the infirm, the crippled, the mentally ill and Jewish people were threatened with vile acts of torture and shameful treatment and annihilation. I was a preemie. And by the way, I had polio. I cannot walk. So, I write with great passion and believe the stellar issue in this coming election is how each Candidate will defend and care for the weak and oppressed. Obama's words reflect a heart of compassion - yet his actions are abominable. He votes for the destruction of unborn babies and condones tiny preemies to death by his admission of support for Abortion and its vile stance. Pro-Life is the only position anyone can assume if they are indeed for the weak and vulnerable of our society. Obama's defense of abortion tells me that he winks at death and murder and therefore I could never trust him with the leadership of our Country. I am thrilled that the JEWISH PRESS supports Senator John McCain who will fight for life and peace. G-d help us! That we condone abortion as a method of birth control and allow babies born alive when the abortion was not successful to die of thirst and starvation in back rooms of various hospitals, is an abomination beyond all fathoming. G-d have mercy on us and put in the Presidency a man like Senator John McCain who knows from personal experience just how vile and destructive evil can be! Marie Oden
Excellent : You got it right !
Date 01:10, 10-27, 08 I have spent many hours researching the candidates and their records...One issue that is top of the list for me is a candidates stance with regard to our relationship with Israel. The left has attacked and smeared the McCain Palin ticket, allowing lies against then to go uncorrected even as they gave Obama their "annointed one" a free pass. One lie that was put out into the political realm and that unfortunately many Jewish leaders still believe to be true is that untruth which has smeared Gov. Palin saying she is an anti-semite. She is overwhelmingly not. Democrat Rep. Alcee Hastings told an audience of Jewish Democrats that they should be wary of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin because "anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks." Did he actually Say that? Shockingly Yes, Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida said this in a speech to a panel about the shared agenda of Jewish and African-American Democrats. Talk about race baiting and and presenting a nonsensical argument. It is vile and bigoted for him to suggest that gun owners and hunters should be viewed as a threat against Jews and Blacks. I am stunned and outraged that the media did not call more attention to this. Rep. Hastings words are irresponsible and stoop to a new low. In addition, it is repugnant for him to single out Palin and suggest that because she hunts -she is somehow a racist. This is preposterous but not entirely new. Obama's supporters tried this already when they pointed to a photo of her wearing a Pat Buchanan button on her lapel when then as a Presidential candidate he had come to visit the Town of Wasila. As Mayor she agreed with him on some domestic issues but was actively campaigning for Presidential Candidate Steve Forbes. So this attack fell flat when all the facts came out but for many who never heard the retraction it remains a myth. Palin, is in fact on record for being a strong supporter of Israel. She has also shown a great deal of support to a the small Jewish community in Alaska. She did not do this because she needed every vote or was trying to pander, she did it because she is a sincere supporter. In the spring a decorated Israeli War hero turned film maker decided to do a story on Sarah Palin which was to be a part of a documentary on extraordinary women. Elan Frank, has stated with absolute clarity that he was impressed by Palin. He also spoke of her having a Israel Flag on the wall of her office. When he asked her about it she said she loved Israel and that friends who had gone there had bought her the flag. Elan Frank is man who has risked his life to save the lives of others. He is man with strong views He is, as his friend David Suissa writes "an independent who's staunchly pro-Israel, and whose primary concern as a voter is the global threat of nuclear-based terrorism." Suissa goes on to tell us that Elan Frank "was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1982 after he rescued 25 Israeli soldiers caught in a nighttime terrorist ambush deep inside Lebanon. The conditions were so risky that Frank's co-pilot suggested they abort the mission. Frank ignored the advice, and under intense enemy fire, he made a daredevil 360 degree move to speed up the helicopter's landing and rescue the troops." This is a man who remains in the Israeli reserves as a pilot even to this day. He is a patriot who loves America and Israel. Elan Frank is also no fool and in his evaluation "Sarah Palin is a very special woman. She has a tranquility about her, no matter what the situation is, she is a "natural-born leader" According to his friend David Suissa who wrote a super article entitled Shooting Sarah Palin, Elan is "not overly worried about Palin's lack of experience on the world stage. He's seen too many "experienced" and worldly politicians fall flat on their faces, and he sees in Palin a "natural-born leader" with good intuition who knows how to ask the right questions." "Suissa goes on to write that Elan Frank " thinks Palin is the opposite of what they call in Israel a "freyer" (a sucker or a fool), meaning that she'll see right through the deceptive tactics of sneaky lizards like Ahmadinejad of Iran or Assad of Syria, who he believes would outmatch a well-intentioned and articulate diplomat like Barack Obama. So yes, Frank seems to have fallen under her spell. But Frank is no freyer himself. This is a war hero who spent seven years in the Israeli army fighting a wily foe. He knows all about deception. He doesn't trust easily. He can tell real from fake and tough from soft. If Sarah Palin is anything, he says, she's real and tough. And in a dangerous world, Frank sees the appeal of a lioness who's real and tough. Especially a lioness who learns quickly, loves her country and hates to lose. " I have not heard if Frank endorses either candidate however according to his friend he appears to have strong opinions. I have taken the liberty of quoting more from the Suissa Article. I would encourage you to go to the links I have attached at the end of this posting to read the entire article as well as the Speech Palin was to have given to at the UN protest rally. She is no anti Semite and to suggest other wise fly's patently in the face of facts. The New York Sun printed the Speech Palin which was to have delivered at the UN Rally protesting Ahmadinejad of Iran, before Hilary pulled out and organizers caved and univited Palin. Palins speech was strong, direct and bipartisan. She credited Hilary for her strong statements and condemned Ahmadinejad. "Tomorrow, Ahmadinejad will come to New York. On our soil, he will exercise the right of freedom of speech - a right he denies his own people. He will share his hateful agenda with the world. Our task is to focus the world on what can be done to stop him......President Ahmadinejad should be held accountable for inciting genocide, a crime under international law...... Senator McCain has made a solemn commitment that I strongly endorse: Never again will we risk another Holocaust. And this is not a wish, a request, or a plea to Israel's enemies. This is a promise that the United States and Israel will honor, against any enemy who cares to test us. It is John McCain's promise and it is my promise." Regardless of ones political affiliation - Sarah Palin does not deserve this type of slanderous attacks from hate mongers like Rep. Alcee Hastings. I do not care what the mainstream media or Hollywood celebrities think regarding Palin. I would rather trust the experience I have had when speaking with Gov. Palin Face to face, the Opinion of an Israeli War hero who has severed his Country and the opinion of John McCain a Man who has long stood for this country and with Israel. I encourage you to look up at the New york Sun the copy of the speech taht Gov. Palin was to give in Protest at the United Nations before she was uninvited when Hillary decided not to appear.
Jewish Press Spreading Right Wing Propaganda - You Should Be Ashamed
Date 07:10, 10-27, 08 The title of my post pretty much sums it all up. Stick to the facts and major policies and it is quite clear where Jewish Americans should be voting. It's Barak Obama. From taxes, to health care, to woman's rights, to gay rights, to the possibility of appointing 3 supreme court justices, to who will be VP, to Israel Obama is clearly a better choice. Ayers and Acorn???? Are you kidding?
Respectfully Disagree
Date 12:10, 10-27, 08 (a) The current economic crisis, potentially high unemployment, etc., require new, creative leadership; definitely not more of the same. (b) Senator McCain is 72 and in relatively poor health (having had several cases of Oso Machlah [cancer]). If elected, there is a strong possibilty that Sarah Palin will become president. (c) The refusal Ms. Livni to guarantee that Jerusalem will always be 100% ours is obviously due to "pressure" from the Bush administration. As a candidate Mr. Bush made the same friendly promises as McCain; if elected McCain will follow Bush and favor the Arab oil interests.
Khalidi
Date 10:10, 10-28, 08 L.a. times sitting on video of Obama praising Khalidi(Plo spokeman) They were both in attendance during a going away dinner for Khalidi which quickly turned into a bash Jews fest. Don't believe me search for yourself. Sure Obama says he supprts Israel but his actions speak differently. Lynn Weis
I don't understand the Jewish Americans
Date 01:10, 10-28, 08 This article is such a fine tribute to John McCain. I do not understand my fellow Jewish people in America. I have said so many times to Obama supporters, "be careful what you wish for". I have compaired Obama's eloquence to Hitler as well. I am not sure how many of your readers saw a news clip a few weeks ago showing young children maybe 4, 5 or six singing a song written by a music teacher singing of their love for Obama and singing his praises. This too is reminescent of Hilter. For Israel's sake, John McCain must win the Presidency. Mona Abraham Sylvania, Ohio USA
Oh Jerusalem
Date 02:10, 10-28, 08 bottom line: Obama says he will leave the status of Jerusalem to negotiations between the parties. Obama's chief middle east negotiator, Dan Kurtzer says Juerusalem must be on the chopping block. McCain says no. He recognizes the historic Jewish claim to undivided Jerusalem. While I tend to agree with Obama over McCain on most issues it's a no brainer. I'm not even religious, but "Oh Jerusalem if I forget thee..." resonates not to mention solidarity with my Jewish brother and sisters who would lose their homes or be endangered by larger terrorist bases in Eretz Israel.
Thank Goodness for Sensibilities, Please Heed
Date 03:10, 10-28, 08 Rashid Khalidi's name is finally coming on the brink of the forefront of the news, with the L.A. Times holding the video clip hostage of the evil anti-Semitic bashing goings on while Obama praised that man. It was enough when Al Jazeera was shown on youtube interviewing young inhabitants of the Gaza Strip campaigning for Obama through internet cafe's. The writing is on the wall. Please consider. People all around this country stand in prayer for Israel, not only for the health of Israel, but it's significance to the U.S. and our people too. Please take heed of the warnings and stop holding true to a party line that is not holding your best interests at heart (for naysayers of this article). Shalom
Sign the petition to release the video
Date 03:10, 10-28, 08 Google the video for the l.a. times video of khalidi so that if released (doubtful), you can make your own informed decision rather than listen to those pressuring you into listening to propaganda about party lines. Vote your conscience. Sometimes, the choice isn't something to labor over, our hearts may not agree with our heads, but listen closely... it's telling you something. I don't mean to offend, but the only wisdom I can speak now is that "you will know them by their fruits". Examine the fruit, you will find it is rotten by examining the video of Khalidi and Obama, I am certain. My previous searches have led me to the same conclusions. I need no video for further proof that Israel does not have a friend in Obama.
Todays Jewish Frum population does not seem to remember American History or never learned it
Date 05:10, 10-28, 08 In NY and NYC your vote for MCCain is a waste. Based upon the electoral system that is used in the USA, NY will go for Obama. You cannot refute that. Therefore by voting for MCCain you accomplish several things: 1. You tell the Democratic Party - that rules NY that they should NOT pander to you or the FRUM community. 2. You tell your local representatives that you don't support them or their colleagues. They DONT have to pander to you. 3. You weaken the force of the Jewish Vote by showing that we DONT vote as a block. And since we don't vote as a block we don't need to be pandered to. So when things, like road repair, street lights, garbage collection, street cleaning, and other local services don't seem to be provided as quickly as they should be or used to be ask yourself why? If you don't support your local officials and the people they support why they should jump faster for you. There will be arguments to refute the above but you cannot claim the statements above are not true. If you want your vote to count then move to a state where a small number of votes can swing the outcome. NY is not going to swing Republican. NJ might, FL might. Good Luck Today's Jewish Frum population does not seem to remember American History or never learned it.
