Our 18-month-old son, Ezra, has a rare primary immune deficiency called Hyper IgM Syndrome. His body is unable to produce certain antibodies to protect him from infection. Thankfully, he has been doing well with the medical treatments that he receives. However, serious complications can arise and the prognosis is unclear. A bone marrow or stem cell transplant is the only cure. His doctors recommend a transplant provided a suitable donor can be found. Right now there is no donor in the registry that is a perfect match to Ezra. We are starting a campaign to find his perfect match and we need your help.

The project serves as an innovative campaign for financial support of the Rubashkin Defense Fund, drawing mounting online interest by the hour.

When Dr. David Shashar of Ramat Gan was called out to serve in the Paratrooper reserves during the Second Lebanon War of 2006, his goal was to help heal wounded soldiers. He never thought that he would become one himself. When two Hizbullah anti-tank missiles hit the house he was staying in, killing nine soldiers, he was among the 30 to be seriously injured. Dr. Shashar was hospitalized for the next three months in an attempt to save his arm from amputation. He underwent numerous reconstruction operations over the next three years, a number of which were in Boston's Beth Israel Hospital. The Ministry of Defense referred him to ROFEH International - a comprehensive medical referral and bikur cholim service founded by the Bostoner Rebbe, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Horowitz, zt"l.

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, can be a time of optimism. The observances of the holiday are actually quite therapeutic. Engaging in prayer, charity and repentance clears one's head, and sets us in a position to anticipate a clean slate. We hope for Hashem's blessings for a good year.
