Boynton Beach has the fastest growing Jewish population in America. Currently, several hundred traditional families call Boynton Beach home.

Understandably, communities do not just “happen.” Over the past 18 years, Chabad rabbi and rebbetzin Sholom and Dinie Ciment, along with a small army of partnering angels, have shouldered the birthing pains and developed an infrastructure of glistening traditional Jewish life. Multimillion-dollar facilities have been built on Chabad’s five-acre campus. A resplendent synagogue, an award-winning preschool and a magnificent mikveh are surrounded by beautiful homes.

Ninety-nine of these homes were built in a unique partnership between an area developer and Chabad. These custom-built estate homes were designed with many amenities. Following a national advertising campaign, hundreds were attracted to Chabad’s campus.

This phenomenon – the creation of a vibrant Jewish community on hundreds of underdeveloped acres of land in Boynton Beach, will be heralded at Chabad’s “Gala 18 Milestone Banquet” on Sunday, May 19.

The highlight of the gala will be the completion of a Torah, written in Tiberias, Israel, to crown the community’s milestone. Ambassador Ned L. Siegel, gala chairman, announced that tribute will be paid to the new Torah’s patrons and Chabad’s newest founders.

The keynote address will be delivered by Rabbi Abraham Shemtov, chairman of Agudas Chassidei Chabad; the Guardian of Jerusalem award will be conferred upon Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who will deliver greetings from Washington; and 12-year old Ethan Bortnick will dazzle the audience. (Ethan has been named “One of Oprah Winfrey’s all time smartest, talented kids.”)
