WHAT: 75th Anniversary of the Sailing of the St Louis: The M.S . St. Louis, sailed from Hamburg, Germany, on May 13, 1939. The ship was carrying almost a thousand Jews who were attempting to flee the Nazis. The ship was headed toward Cuba, but when the Cuban government reversed its initial decision to accept the refugees, it sailed to the United States. America refused the passengers safe haven. The ship had no choice but to return to the Germany.

WHAT: An Evening With Noam Shalit: Noam Shalit’s son Gilad was held captive by Hamas for over five years. He was returned to Israel in November 2011. Noam will discuss the worldwide campaign that was waged for Gilad’s release.
