Hebrew After School students perform at celebration.

Chabad Chayil of Highland Lakes recently celebrated the completion of another successful year of its Hebrew school for children who attend public school. The dinner was held in The Shul of Bal Harbour. A crowd of 250 parents and supporters attended.

Each child was presented with a siddur, personalized with the student’s picture and name. Commissioner Sally Heyman of Miami-Dade County was also presented with an engraved siddur. Ms. Heyman gave the commencement speech congratulating the students for their achievements and encouraging them to constantly grow in their learning. She told the parents, “The decision to send your children to Chabad After School was a wise one. There are many choices for after care, but the quality of program, the care and devotion found at Chabad, is second to none.”

Jack Mandowsky and his team at Creative Art & Design were honored for their help and efforts. Rabbi and Mrs. Kievman also thanked their hard working staff for helping to make the after-school program number-one rated in Miami-Dade County for the fourth year in a row.

Applause filled the room as Rabbi Kievman announced the purchase of a fourth property to expand operations. Zoning for the redesigned building should soon be complete. The expanded project will include twelve classrooms, a library, youth center and multi-purpose ballroom.

The Chabad Hebrew School is open Monday through Friday for boys and girls ages 5-13, offering Hebrew language, holidays, traditions, art, ceramics, martial arts, music, drama, chess club, bar/bat mitzvah classes and homework help.
