Emunah of South Florida, Miami Beach chapter, will present the Emunah Humanitarian Leadership Award to U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen at the organization’s annual gala dinner.
Ros-Lehtinen’s role as a champion of religious freedom and democratic ideals, and her unwavering support for Israel, make her a most fitting recipient of the award.
The event will be held Sunday evening, February 23, at the Alexander Hotel.
The dinner will pay tribute to Holocaust Survivors for their contributions to Jewish continuity. Three generations of survivors will be recognized. The chapter will note local Emunah supporters Phyllis Margulis, Sam and Rose Gurfinkel, Michael and Terry Lefkowitz, Dr. Ari and Elissa Ciment and Dovi and Ilana Lamet. Dinner chairpersons are Abbey and Helene Berkowitz and Dr. David and Gita Galbut.
Emunah’s mission is to alleviate the burdens of Israel’s social problems, to strengthen the fabric of Israeli society through education and social services and to provide emergency assistance to its citizens during times of crisis. Proceeds of the evening will benefit Emunah’s network of over 250 programs.
