Hatzalah of Miami-Dade has expanded the perimeters of its areas of service to Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor and Surfside. Over the past three years, Hatzalah has answered over 2,000 calls, providing supplementary emergency response in North Miami Beach, Aventura and Miami Beach, and now has over 60 trained and certified emergency medical professionals throughout the South Florida region.

Hatzalah of Miami-Dade is an all-volunteer not-for-profit community organization whose primary mission is to save lives by providing basic life support services in the first few vital minutes of an emergency until an ambulance arrives. Hatzalah provides care, free of charge, to all in need, regardless of race, gender, religion or ethnicity.

Hatzalah of Miami-Dade is not a replacement for 911. It does not provide emergency or non-emergency transport. The service is designed only to bridge the gap until an official ambulance can arrive. Hatzalah dispatchers will always ask whether 911 has been notified and will automatically call 911 once they are contacted.

Hatzalah can be called for any medical emergency. Professionally trained dispatchers and emergency medical response teams are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Jewish holidays and weekends.

Hatzalah recommends that if individuals facing a medical situation have any doubt as to whether Hatzalah should be called, they should err on the side of caution and make the call.
