Young Israel of Deerfield Beach, located at 202 Century Boulevard, will host a Holocaust remembrance program on January 20. The event will mark the anniversary of the infamous Wannsee Conference, which set into motion Hitler’s plan for the genocide of the entire Jewish population of Europe.

Young Israel of Deerfield Beach traditionally has opted to observe the date of the Wannsee Conference as its Holocaust memorial, since by the spring many winter residents have returned to their northern homes.

The program will be highlighted by a candlelight procession by local area Holocaust survivors and readings by various synagogue members. The men’s choir, led by Irving Ginsberg, will perform.

Rabbi Nathaniel Steinberg, president of the YIDB, will introduce featured speaker, Mrs. Ruth Lichtenstein. The somber event will conclude with the chanting of Kel Male Rachamim by Cantor Joseph Lowy. Irving Waxman is program chairman of the event.
