Keystone Jewish Center Celebrates Chanukah

The Keystone Jewish Center held a public menorah lighting on Wednesday, December 12, in front of the City Hall of North Miami. The celebration took place for the ninth consecutive year at the city’s building and featured a 15-foot menorah, the largest on city municipal property in South Florida. The menorah was lit throughout the eight days of the holiday.

Shulie Green, co-director of the Keystone Jewish Center, said: “Publicizing the miracle of Chanukah is the essence of what the holiday is all about and we appreciate the city’s participation. The enduring light of the menorah is a symbol of freedom from oppression. These flames represent the Jewish people, a light to all the nations.” Green added, “We feel enormous gratitude to God that not only do we live in a country that allows us to fulfill our commandments, but actually assists us in keeping them.”

The joyous festivities included Jewish music, hot latkes and jelly doughnuts and Chanukah treats for the children. City officials and distinguished members of the North Miami community were honored at the event.
