The Preserve at Palm-Aire, a local senior living community, recently donated more than 180 eco-friendly, sturdy and reusable tote bags to the Broward County Jewish Family Services (JFS). The JFS has been providing thousands of families with KOLOT, a series of life-sustaining programs, for the past 50 years. The programs include mental health counseling, emergency financial assistance, care for seniors, clothing for children and much more. The tote bags will be used to deliver food to families in need.

“The Jewish Family Services feeds almost 200 frail, homebound seniors every month, and our volunteers deliver bags of food filled with more than two dozen staples, from tuna to dry milk, soups, cereals and snacks, all over Broward County,” said Ken Moskowitz, CEO of JFS. “We are grateful for The Preserve at Palm-Aire’s support of our Food Delivery Program and all the private donations. Every donation makes a difference.”

On average, the food pantry at Jewish Family Services delivers food to almost 200 families each month regardless of race, religion, income or status. The essence of its mission is to support those who face daily challenges, whether they are the normal transitions of life, new and unexpected hardships, or immediate crises and changing lives for the better to build a stronger Broward community.

Since 1999, JFS KOLOT has brought together organizations and individuals dedicated to raising awareness, promoting education and increasing services for victims of domestic abuse in the Jewish community. The JFS Domestic Abuse Program provides a 24/7 Crisis Line, counseling, case management, support groups, and financial assistance. KOLOT projects include Connect Cards, Teen Relationship Workshops, the Men’s Initiative and fundraising efforts.
