Cantors Avi Albrecht and Yaakov Motzen will join up for a Shabbat Chazzanut, February 7 – 8, at the Palm Beach Synagogue in Palm Beach. The two have appeared together many times, delighting audiences with a selection of cantorial and Jewish music. This time, the cantors will perform the Sabbath services, including the Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat and the Shabbat morning davening.

Avi Albrecht has appeared in almost every major city in North America, Israel and Europe and enjoys standing ovations wherever he performs. His repertoire is extensive and varied, and his rich baritone is equally suited to performing Broadway favorites, Yiddish standards, and Italian arias as well as his inspirational cantorial singing. He has appeared with major symphony orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Yaakov Motzen of The Shul of Bal Harbour is a native of Tel Aviv and represents the fifth generation of a family of cantors. He held the position of chief cantor in Givatayim, Haifa, and Ramat Gan, and sang on Kol Yisrael radio and television. He is a former vice president of Nechala, an organization dedicated to entertaining wounded soldiers. He has performed in concert in many parts of the world – including Australia, South Africa, England, Israel and many cities in North America – and has released over a dozen recordings of liturgical and chassidic music.

Meir Panim works to alleviate the harmful effects of poverty on thousands of men, women and children across Israel through a range of food and social service programs aimed at helping the needy with dignity and respect, including free restaurants, meals-on-wheels, children’s meal programs, prepaid food card distribution, vocational training and after-school youth clubs.
