Students raise money for Sharsheret with ManiCure fundraiser.

The eighth grade girls of the Hebrew Academy Charlotte Rohr Middle School of Miami Beach held a special event on Thursday, February 27. The girls’ Pink Day ManiCure raised money for Sharsheret, an organization that caters to the unique needs of Jewish women affected with breast and ovarian cancer and provides care for these patients and their families.

Under the direction of religious studies teacher Mrs. Sharon Ciment, the girls raised a significant amount for this worthy cause. Mrs. Ciment’s classroom was converted to a pink spa and for a minimal charge the middle school girls gave “ManiCures” to students, mothers, grandmothers, faculty and community members throughout the day.

“We are a nation of compassion and kindness,” said Mrs. Ciment. “Events such as these define us. The students and the community truly rose to the occasion and I am in awe. May Hashem in his mercy see the greatness of His nation and bring an end to this terrible illness.”
