Yachad is a national Jewish organization that helps bring disabled people into a full Jewish life. On March 7, Sha’arei Bina had the privilege of being the first school in Florida to generate an all-girl Yachad Shabbaton.

Yachad flew adviser Sari Mizrahi from New York to run the programming for the Shabbaton. She helped create a remarkable event.

As the hours passed, friendships were created and bonds grew strong. In one way or another, everyone gained something from that Shabbat. The experience will never be forgotten and the students will be forever thankful for this opportunity.

As 2014 vice-president of Yachad and a proud Sha’arei Bina student, I believe an event like this should not only be an unforgettable memory but repeated in the future. To say the weekend was a success would be an understatement.

Many thanks to Mrs. Bodkins, Tzippi Rosen and the many “behind the scenes” workers.

Editor’s Note: Talia Mizrahi is a student at Sha’arei Bina Torah Academy for Girls, located at 1557 164th Street in North Miami Beach.
