Yeshiva v’Kollel Bais Moshe Chaim will be holding a grand celebration on the occasion of the institution’s 40th anniversary on Sunday evening, December 7. Alumni, students, friends and faculty of the yeshiva, also known as Talmudic University of Florida, will celebrate the achievement and vision of its founders and the spiritual guidance of its educational leadership, Rosh Yeshiva Yochanan and Rebbetzin Rifka Zweig.

In 1974, Rosh Yeshiva and Rebbetzin Zweig moved to Miami Beach from Jerusalem with the goal of building a yeshiva focused on in-depth Torah study. As the Jewish community began to grow, the rosh yeshiva, along with the original founders, created a network of educational institutions for every age group. What began as a small yeshiva of ten students in 1974 has burgeoned into hundreds of students enrolled in schools that span from early childhood education to adult education and every level in between.

“We are proud to be part of the South Florida Jewish community, inspiring a love of Torah for 40 years,” says Rabbi Yitzchak Zweig, the yeshiva’s director. “I grew up on Miami Beach from a young age and can remember the warmth of my parents’ home, always open to any Jew wanting to come closer to his or her Jewish heritage through a deeper understanding of Judaism and the study of Torah.”

The yeshiva’s educational network includes:

Mechina High School – The 7th and 8th grade junior high school as well as the high school, 9th through 12th, both follow a dual curriculum of secular and religious studies.

Yeshiva Elementary School (Y.E.S.) – More than 600 students, boys and girls, fill the elementary school.

A grand evening has been planned. It will include filled a siyum on Kol HaTorah Kulah, a Sefer Torah dedication, a documentary film on the life and mission of the rosh yeshiva and rebbetzin, a musical performance by Eitan Katz, and a delicious buffet. The event, including the concert, will be simulcast online for the thousands of students around the world who want to join those in attendance in Miami.
