The Shul of Bal Harbour (9540 Collins Avenue in Surfside) will be hosting Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks on Monday, November 24, at 8 p.m. Rabbi Sacks will offer what is sure to be a riveting lecture titled “Shattering the Idols: The Struggle for Holiness in a Secular Age.” It will be a unique opportunity for the South Florida community to hear an enlightening presentation given by one of today’s most influential Jewish thinkers.

Rabbi Sacks is a global religious leader, philosopher, internationally renowned speaker, author of more than 25 books, and moral voice for our time. He is currently the Ingeborg and Ira Rennert Global Distinguished Professor of Judaic Thought at New York University and the Kressel and Ephrat Family University Professor of Jewish Thought at Yeshiva University. He has also been appointed as professor of law, ethics and the Bible at King’s College in London.

Rabbi Sacks held the position of chief rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth for 22 years until September 2013.
