Twenty-five men and women from South Florida attended the inauguration of the Tzvi Hirsh Chaim Bikur Cholim on Thursday, August 28. The meeting took place at Chabad of South Broward, 1295 East Hallandale Beach Blvd, Hallandale. Attendees volunteered to visit patients and residents in hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, and rehab facilities. Homebound and Holocaust survivors will also be included.

For 34 years, the shluchim and volunteers of Chabad of South Broward have visited patients on a regular basis in many South Broward and North Dade facilities. The Tzvi Hirsh Chaim Bikur Cholim will now work with all existing groups in Broward and Dade Counties, filling a gap that is sorely needed.

The new group will also deliver kosher food to Jewish residents in non-kosher facilities, as well as to kosher facilities where the food is not up to par. Approximately ten facilities will be visited regularly in Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Park, Dania Beach, and East Hollywood.
