Sarah Stern addresses Young Israel of Bal Harbour audience.

The Young Israel of Bal Harbour, located at 9592 Harding Avenue in Surfside, had a unique program that was served up with delicious break-the-fast platters after Taanis Esther on March 13. The riveting lecture, “Secrets of the Book of Esther: The Moral Imperative for Political Activism,” was presented by Sarah Stern, founder and president of EMET, a pro-Israel and pro-American think tank in Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Stern pointed out parallels in the story of Purim and conditions in the world today. Ancient Persia, the setting of the megillah tale, is now, Iran, a country threatening the Jewish state with nuclear annihilation.

Stern not only talks the talk, she walks the walk. She is a relentless advocate for Israel and important Jewish issues. Her work has resulted in the establishment, in the Department of Justice, of the Office for Victims of Overseas Terrorism to ensure equal justice under the law for American victims of Palestinian terrorism; passage of the Syrian Accountability Act; passage of a resolution in defense of Israel’s right to build a security fence; and passage of laws that call for a more balanced curriculum in Middle Eastern Studies Departments throughout the United States.

Her just published book, Saudi Arabia and the Global Islamic Terrorist Network, is available on Amazon.com.
