Events In The West: This Shabbos Rabbi Ben-Tzion Bar-Ami – scholar, artist, healer and director of Hay-li School of Alternative Medicine in Rehovot and of Oht Le Olam – will be the guest speaker at The Happy Minyan… On August 16-17, Rabbi Daniel Kohn, rav of Yishuv Bat Ayin and co-founder of the Bat Ayin Yeshiva, will be the scholar-in-residence at Chabad of Berkeley… On August 18, Rabbi Mordechai Willig, a posek and senior rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva University, will be the guest speaker at EDOS in Denver.

Yeshiva News: Jason Ablin is the incoming General Studies principal at Harkham Hillel AcademyYULA Girls has created an exciting new science program, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), in conjunction with the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education. The school is also starting a Chidon Tanach program.

Yasher Koach: Inappropriate billboards have become more rampant in recent years. It’s rare that they’re taken down when schools and shuls complain about them. So yasher koach to Rabbi Yehuda Nourollah, the assistant rabbi of Bait Aaron, a Sephardic shul on La Cienega, who recently contacted the CEO of a billboard company that had placed an inappropriate billboard near his shul. Within 24 hours, the offensive billboard was replaced.

Eruvs: The East Denver eruv has recently expanded its boundaries… No relief is in sight for the Santa Monica and Venice communities in Los Angeles. The cost to try to solve their bird issue is beyond their means.

The yeshiva night accommodates all levels of Jewish education.

Recently, Fort Lauderdale has been the focus of international news, and it has not been about the wonderful weather.

Rabbi Sacks held the position of chief rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth for 22 years until September 2013.
