South Africa’s The Star newspaper has a review of a Johannesburg restaurant called The Bario.  From exquisite sushi to imaginative salads to regal burgers (they actually have one called King David) and wonderful vegetarian dishes, there seems to be something here for everyone.  For more information read the review here

The monthly blog-based Kosher Cooking Carnival is accepting entries.  It’s described as a carnival of kosher food, kosher cooking, including stories, traditions, menus, etc. The only requirement is that the recipes are kosher.”  Submit entries here 

 

 From the UK comes word that chocolate bars such as Mars and Snickers are still approved by the London Beth Din even though the manufacture Masterfoods has announced that they whey used in their production may contain trace amounts of animal rennet.  It seems that the amount is so miniscule it doesn’t affect the kashrus of the product.  However, the Jewish Vegetarian Society has said that its members will be looking for alternatives.
