We have no special theme this week, just some great products we have come across.

** The Vermont Bread Company (Vaad Hakashruth of the Capital District, parve or dairy) introduced a new line of certified organic English Muffins. As these were the only organic muffins we had ever tasted, I can’t tell you if they are the best, but I can say that none of our
testers noticed a difference in taste between these and regular English muffins. They were light and airy with a very nice amount of flavor. They are available in Cheddar, Cinnamon Raisin, Honey Wheat, White Blueberry and Maple, all dairy. The flavor that stands out in our mind is
the blueberry – just enough blueberries for taste but not enough to be overwhelming. They also produce organic hamburger rolls and frankfurter buns – again, there is no difference in taste; the difference is simply in the quality of ingredients. As their new marketing tagline says,
“Eating well never tasted so good.” You can find all of there products in major supermarket chains throughout the country or by contacting the company directly.

** Glaceau Vitaminwater (Energy Brands OU parve) comes in five kosher flavors. This is much more than flavored water in nice plastic bottles. Every flavored water contains special vitamins and herbs that correspond to the theme. For instance, I tried the Green Tea flavor,
whose theme is rescue. It contains rosemary, chamomile and lavender, among others – all herbs that are great when you want to relax. Among the other flavors are Power C with dragonfruit, and Water Energy with Tropical Citrus. Glaceau can be found in your local supermarket or on the web at www.energybrands.com.

** Father Sam’s Bakery (OU parve) makes the best pita bread I have ever had – using a recipe that has been in his family for generations. We tried the wheat mini pockets and loved them; as a matter of fact we were pretty upset when we realized how quickly the package became empty. They also have a full line of tortillas. Tortillas and wraps are a staple in our home and, again, these were some of the best we ever tasted. Father Sam’s products are available in supermarket chains in the Northeast and Midwest or on the web at www.fathersams.com.

** David’s Cookies (Fairfield Gourmet Foods, OU dairy), for cookie connoisseurs, just hearing the name is enough to make their mouth water. A couple of weeks ago the most incredible assortment of David’s delight made its way into our office. The quantity, the variety of flavors, the smells – people still talk about it. Fresh baked cookies – chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin, brownies, pecan meltaways, the list was endless. To really appreciate the delicacy that is David’s Cookies you need to try them. You can buy them online at www.davidscookies.com or take a ride out to their outlet store in Fairfield, New Jersey.

** Redmond RealSalt (Redmond’s Minerals, KSA parve) is just what it sounds like – real salt. As opposed to what, you ask? As opposed to the salt that finds its way to all of our tables. It was very interesting to learn that the table salt we eat has been bleached and refined – that’s right, salt in its natural form is not white. All of Redmond’s products are the slightly pinkish color that you find in a natural state. The salt is available in sea salt, onion, garlic and seasoned. Use them on meat, fish, pasta – or sprinkle some on your bread and for the first time enjoy a truly great tasting salt.
