“Brain damage and death due to anesthesia are extremely rare because of technological and safety advances, even compared to the last ten years,” said Dr. Uppal.  He  notes that if parents view the practice of anesthesia like that of flying a plane, they will be able to have the right frame of mind for taking necessary precautions to increase the possibility of a successful surgery.
